Bell the Heavy Favorite in NASCAR’s 2024 Iowa Corn 350 Odds

Cup Series is Racing in Iowa Speedway for First Time; New Face Leads Favorites

The second road course event of the NASCAR Cup Series season came down to the wire last week in Sonoma. Kyle Larson earned his third win of 2024 after taking the lead on lap 102 and kept it to earn the win by 4.2 seconds over Michael McDowell.

This week, the grid returns to ovals but at a new track: the Iowa Speedway. The 2024 Iowa Corn 350 Odds point to a new favorite this season in the Cup Series’ first race in Iowa.

2024 Iowa Corn 350 Odds: Favorites

  • Christopher Bell (+375)

Bell earned his fourth top-10 result in the last five NASCAR races last week in Sonoma. Ninth place there followed seventh and first in Gateway and Charlotte, respectively.

He’s one of the top drivers in the series over that stretch and has moved up to ninth in the Cup Series standings.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

He’s the runaway favorite this week thanks to his Xfinity Series experience at Iowa Speedway. That track held at least one Xfinity Series race there from 2011 through 2019.

Bell won one event in 2019 and finished second from pole in the other. In 2018, Bell finished second in the first race and won the second event.

  • Denny Hamlin (+700)

Hamlin’s impressive run of top-five finishes came to a swift end in Sonoma after engine problems ended his race on Lap 2. It was a rough outcome for one of the most consistent drivers in the field this season.

His NASCAR odds are good for this week because of similar layouts. Iowa is a short, flat track similar to Richmond. Hamlin won the first Cup Series race in Richmond this season and is one of the better active drivers at that track.

  • Kyle Larson (+700)

Larson’s Sonoma win gives him a 14-point lead atop the Cup Series standings over Hendrick Motorsports teammate Chase Elliott. After missing out in Charlotte thanks to the Indy 500, he’s back in control of the championship.

He took pole position and finished third in Richmond earlier this season. He won the spring event there in 2023 from ninth on the grid and that inspires confidence ahead of this weekend.

  • Ryan Blaney (+800)

Blaney broke his run of bad results with seventh place in Sonoma. That marks his first top-10 result since Dover and just his second in the last two months. It could be a sign of things changing for the defending Cup Series champion.

He’s high up these odds thanks to his success at the Iowa Speedway in his Xfinity career. He won the second race there in 2015 and took fifth in the first race that year. It’s nearly a decade ago but invaluable experience in the first Cup Series race there.

Sleepers

  • Martin Truex Jr. (+1000)

Truex Jr.’s form continued its downward trend in Sonoma. He ran out of fuel late and could only manage 27th by the checkered flag. That’s his third result outside of the top 15 drivers in his last four races.

That recent run is bad but his odds for NASCAR races today point to a potential opportunity in Iowa. He’s one of the best drivers in Richmond in recent memory and finished fourth after leading the most laps there earlier this season.

His three Richmond victories in his last 10 events are the best among active drivers. He needs a strong result to turn this fall around and Iowa could be the place to do it.

  • Joey Logano (+1000)

Logano took pole position in Sonoma but failed to translate that to a win for the third time this season. He lost the lead by Lap 17 and never regained it, finishing 21st.

Prior to Sonoma, he had one of his best results of the season with fifth in Gateway. His best result of the year so far is second in Richmond and that’s a great sign for his hopes this weekend.

  • Chris Buescher (+2000)

Buescher won Stage 2 in Sonoma en route to third place by the finish. That marks his third top-three result this season. He’s still hunting for his first win of the year after coming close in Kansas and Phoenix.

He’s one of just five drivers to finish in the top 10 in both Richmond and Phoenix this season. That group is Buescher, Truex Jr., Bell, Brad Keselowski, and Tyler Reddick.

He has the longest odds out of that group despite the second-best average finish across the two events. That similar track history this season in addition to his recent form gives some confidence heading into the weekend. He also won an Xfinity race there in 2015.

  • Chase Briscoe (+2800)

Briscoe had his worst result of the season in Sonoma with 34th because of a spin that took himself, Logano, and Harrison Burton out of the race. But he could turn things around this weekend.

Briscoe won the last NASCAR event at Iowa Speedway with the Xfinity U.S. Cellular 250 in 2019. He took seventh in the Xfinity Series event at the track earlier that year.

His lone win in the Cup Series came at another shorter, flat-track oval in Phoenix. It’s a long shot but he could pull off a surprise in Iowa.

2024 Iowa Corn 350 Odds: Predictions

A new track is hard to predict for the Cup Series. Limited extended experience for drivers across the field means everyone has at least a solid chance at victory.

Of the favorites, it’s hard to argue against Bell (+375). He’s been a standout racer at tracks like Iowa this season and won there in the lower levels. Of the sleepers, we like Buescher (+2000).

He offers a good mix of results and similar tracks in 2024, a win in Iowa in the Xfinity Series, and odds for a good payout.

Our top five picks are:

  • Bell (-150)
  • Buescher (+325)
  • Truex Jr. (+180)
  • Logano (+180)
  • Blaney (+150)
