Aces vs Sun Betting Preview: Undefeated Las Vegas Open as Solid Favorites
Aces Lay Points on the Road in Expected High-Scoring Affair

The Las Vegas Aces and Connecticut Sun will meet for the second time in three days on Thursday as Connecticut looks to avenge a 90-84 loss at Mohegan Sun Arena. It won’t be easy though, as the Aces remain the WNBA’s only unbeaten team at 7-0. For a closer look at the matchup, dive in to our Aces vs Sun betting preview.
Las Vegas Keeps Rolling
Can anyone beat Las Vegas? At some point … maybe. The Aces have been as good as advertised, living up to their “Super Team” moniker with a scintillating 7-0 start. Oddsmakers opened the Aces as six-point favorites in Thursday’s contest with a total of 168.5.
Tuesday’s victory was Las Vegas’ sixth time this season scoring 90 points. Reigning WNBA Most Valuable Player A’ja Wilson scored 23 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double, and Jackie Young added 22 points. Kelsey Plum contributed 17 points and Chelsea Gray added 14 points for the Aces, who never trailed.
The Aces remain elite offensively, averaging a WNBA-best 93.1 points per game. Dallas (85.0 PPG) is a distant second. They’ve outscored opponents by an average of 16.2 points, looking every bit like the best team in the league. As such, they remain favored to win the WNBA title, with odds of -105. New York is still second on the board at +160, with Washington a distant third at +1500.
Impressively, Las Vegas has done most of its damage despite much production from two-time MVP and seven-time All-Star Candace Parker. The Aces’ prized offseason acquisition is averaging career-lows in several categories, including points (8.1), rebounds (5.0) and field goal percentage (34.6). Keep that in mind as you assess the odds in our Aces vs Sun betting preview.
Sun Looking to Bounce Back
Despite Tuesday’s loss, Connecticut sits second in the WNBA standings at 6-2. It is also 3-1 at home.
Alyssa Thomas notched 14 points and 11 rebounds for her seventh double-double, while Brionna Jones added 15 points. Rebecca Allen came off the bench to score 22 points (16 above her season average) on 6-of-7 shooting from 3-point range.
The Eastern Conference leaders remain one of the biggest threats in the WNBA outside of Las Vegas and New York. Oddsmakers still seem optimistic, as Connecticut owns the fourth-best title odds on the board (+2000). The Sun might not be in the same class as Las Vegas or New York — frankly, nobody is — but they’re a bona fide contender, especially with how Thomas is playing.
Now that Jonquel Jones is gone, traded to New York in the offseason as part of a three-team blockbuster, the 31-year-old Thomas may be Connecticut’s most indispensable player. Aside from being a lockdown defender, Thomas is averaging 14.4 points and a league-leading 11.5 rebounds while playing 37.1 minutes a night, second-most behind Dallas’ Arike Ogunbowale (37.3).
Handicapping The Game
In what was the first meeting between Las Vegas and Connecticut since Game 4 of the 2022 Finals last September, the Aces built a 25-14 lead after the first quarter and never trailed. Connecticut put a slight scare into them during the second half thanks to a 3-point barrage from Allen, but even then, the Aces barely flinched.
Vegas is simply that good. And, believe it or not, Vegas still can get better. Just look at Parker. Taking that into account, expect the line to climb as the game approaches.
