Can The Aces Extend Winning Streak To Seven Games?

Aces vs Sparks Betting: Los Angeles Doesn't Have Enough Offense

Remember when the Las Vegas Aces began the season with a losing record? It’s not like that anymore. The Aces are 11-6 and have won six consecutive games after last night’s win over the Washington Mystics.

The Aces will look to extend that six-game winning streak with a matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks, who have been the exact opposite of the Aces recently. The Sparks have lost eight straight games and are 2-10 in their last ten.

Will this be another easy win for the Aces? Oddsmakers seem to think so. The Aces are -11.5, with the total at 171 for this matchup to begin the weekend.

Aces vs Sparks Betting Trends

The Los Angeles Sparks are 8-8-1 against the spread and have hit the Over in one more game than the Under this season. While they’re 1-9 on the road, the Aces have done better at home, earning three wins in seven games in Los Angeles.

The Aces’ WNBA betting odds show that they lost four more games against the spread but have added the Over in eight of 14 games this year.

Las Vegas has won eight of the last ten meetings against Los Angeles. However, On June 9, the Sparks added a 96-92 win over the Aces as 10.5-point underdogs. That earlier matchup went Over the total of 162.

Meanwhile, the Aces have covered in three consecutive games against the Aces. They’ve been double-digit underdogs in the last seven games against the Aces.

People Want To Watch Las Vegas!

Earlier this week, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever traveled to Las Vegas for a regular season matchup against the two-time defending champions. The Aces moved the game to T-Mobile Arena to attract a larger audience.

It worked.

Over 20,000 fans flocked to T-Mobile Arena to watch the top WNBA players, setting a franchise attendance record for the Aces.

Lots of Disappointment For The Sparks

The Los Angeles Sparks held on to a double-digit lead in their last matchup against the Washington Mystics, only to blow it and lose their 8th consecutive game.

At least the Sparks saw improvement from Stephanie Talbot, who added 17 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. She was also 3-for-5 from deep and added three steals.

The only other positive was Dearica Hamby’s selection to the WNBA All-Star team before that game. She almost notched a triple-double but doesn’t have much help offensively right now.

Just look at the WNBA scores today. Most teams have many threats offensively. The Sparks don’t.

Massive Mismatch

The Las Vegas Aces lead in many offensive categories, including points per game, possessions per 40 minutes, and points per 100 possessions. The Aces have also been in the top five in field goal percentage and free throw percentage and are the best team in the WNBA in points per play.

They don’t ever have trouble scoring.

That likely will continue against the Sparks.

Meanwhile, the Sparks contribute the most turnovers in the WNBA, with nearly 17 per game. They’ve also added a 1.17 assist-to-turnover ratio, which is only 11th in the league. They’re not great on the glass, earning just 32.7% of total rebounds per game and below 7% of blocks per game.

Additionally, the fouls can get high for the Sparks, who have added a 21% foul rate this season. That’s 9th in the WNBA right now.

In comparison, the Aces have the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the WNBA and lead the WNBA in limiting turnovers offensively. Las Vegas also leads the league in defensive rebound rate and is nearing 30 defensive rebounds per game this season.

However, the Sparks have only scored 78 points per game and have a margin per 100 possessions of 11.2 points., which is dead last in the WNBA,

Furthermore, Los Angeles is 10th in field goal percentage, 11th in free throw percentage, and 9th in points per play in the WNBA. The Sparks get to the foul line at a high rate but don’t shoot well from the field most of the time.

Per our Aces vs Sparks betting preview, we’ll back the Aces at -11.5 (-110).
