Cavaliers vs Clippers Head-to-Head Matchup: Cleveland Favored on the Road

The Cavs and Clippers Meet for First Time This Season

The Cleveland Cavaliers continue their five-game road trip on Monday with their second-straight game in Los Angeles. However, after beating the Lakers on Sunday, they now face the Clippers at Crypto.com Arena. The Cavs come into the matchup on an eight-game win streak and in second place in the Eastern Conference standings.

This Cavaliers vs Clippers head-to-head matchup features two teams that are both on the back end of a back-to-back with the Clippers losing to the Utah Jazz on Sunday. The Clippers are 5-5 on the season thanks to a number of players consistently finding themselves on the NBA injury report, including star Kawhi Leonard. Cleveland finds itself as a five-point favorite in this game with the total sitting at 213.5.

Our Cavaliers vs Clippers head-to-head matchup favors Cleveland laying five points on the road. Not only are the Cavs 8-1 on the season, but they’re also 8-1 against the spread. With Cleveland acquiring Donovan Mitchell this offseason, the Cavs have become one of the best teams in the league through the early part of the season.

Mitchelle has provided a significant scoring threat alongside Darius Garland in the backcourt and has helped Cleveland own the league’s best Net Rating. However, be on the lookout for either Mitchelle or Garland to sit this game after they both were listed as questionable before yesterday’s game against the Lakers.

Cleveland’s NBA schedule this week has two more road games to play this week before they return home, so this would be an ideal spot to rest one of their two starts. If that’s the case, then targeting the under on this game’s total of 213.5 might be the way to go because the Cavs scoring will likely decrease.

Not to mention the Clippers are one of the best defensive teams in the league, ranking second in defensive rating. They haven’t allowed their opponents to score more than 112 points in any of their last five games and we expect a similar story tonight.

As the Cavaliers and Clippers go head-to-head, it’s also important to note that while Los Angeles’s defense has been stellar, their offense has struggled mightily. They rank 29th in offensive rating and have been extremely inefficient on that end of the floor.

Part of that is that Kawhi Leonard still remains out for injury management and the Clippers’ role players have struggled to score. While Los Angeles will get Robert Covington back for the first time this season, we don’t expect their offense to turn a corner against a dominant Cavaliers defense that is exceptional at defending at the rim.

The total for this Cavaliers vs Clipper head-to-head matchup has dropped significantly from its opening line of 220 and now sits at 213.5. However, we agree with the movement and would recommend playing the under in Los Angeles tonight.
