Don’t Rely On The Cavaliers In Second Game of Back-to-Back
The Cavaliers vs Suns Betting Favor The Home Team

The Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Phoenix Suns in the second game of a back-to-back. In the first game between the Suns and Cavaliers, Phoenix earned a 117-111 win on the road in mid-March.
Phoenix has been trading wins for losses recently. The Suns are 3-2 over the last five games and just 44-31 this season. They’re in a playoff position but sitting in 7th place with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal on the team. The 7th seed would be forced to play in the Play-In Tournament before getting the chance to play in the NBA Playoffs.
Nobody expected the Suns to be in this spot. That said, they still have enough games on the schedule to get back into the top six in the Western Conference.
Meanwhile, the Cavaliers have been playing many games without Donovan Mitchell. He missed last night’s game against the Jazz for left knee maintenance. He’s currently questionable for this game against the Suns. There’s optimism he will play, but it’s still not confirmed.
The Suns opened this game as a 5.5-point favorite at -110. Meanwhile, the total opened at 226.5.
Let’s break down the Cavaliers vs Suns betting odds for this late-night ESPN matchup.

Cavaliers vs Suns Betting Trends & Odds
The Suns haven’t lived up to expectations this season, and the NBA public betting players know this all too well.
Phoenix was supposed to be a powerhouse. Instead, the Suns aren’t even locked into a top-six seed and have gone 31-42-2 against the spread.
Suns games haven’t even been exciting to watch. The Suns have hit the Under in seven more games than the Over this year. However, the Suns have performed better at home with a 22-14 record straight up.
They’ll take on the Cavaliers, who also haven’t been profitable against the spread this season, either. Cleveland has been almost equal with totals this season and has done well enough on the road with the NBA odds.
Will Donovan Mitchell Return To Cleveland?
Over the last eight games, the Cavaliers have a losing record. Without Donovan Mitchell, the Cavaliers have really struggled to win games. Cleveland knows it’ll need him in the future, and the Cavaliers are willing to do whatever it takes to keep him around.
However, Mitchell himself has been non-committal about a contract extension with the Cavaliers.
Cleveland owner Dan Gilbert believes he’ll be able to extend Mitchell and said Mitchell loves the city.
Devin Booker’s 52-Point Outburst
The Suns finished up their long road trip with a 124-111 win over the Pelicans on Monday. In that game, Devin Booker looked like himself. He added 52 points on 28 shots and led the team with nine assists without even playing a full 40 minutes.
Booker also finished with a career-high eight triples.
That’s needed for the Suns. If Booker didn’t score 30, he would score around 20 points a game. After his ankle injury, his play has been inconsistent. But if he’s returning to his old self right before the playoffs, the Suns must be excited.
Cleveland’s Choking!
We don’t know if Donovan Mitchell will officially return for this game against the Suns. But without him, the Cavaliers are toast.
The Cavaliers have sunk to 18th in points per 100 possessions offensively. They’ve also turned the ball over 13.6% of the time and have added only 25.6% of offensive rebounds.
It’s already hard to get to the foul line against the Cavaliers, and getting good shots against Cleveland is equally as hard. If Cleveland turns the ball over at a high rate and can’t earn second chances on the offensive glass, the offense won’t be good enough to defeat the Suns.
Plus, even if Mitchell is back, the team could struggle to find success slotting him in. There’s rust that could be involved there.
On the flip side, the Suns have been much more consistent offensively. Phoenix is in the top ten in points per 100 possessions, with an effective field goal percentage, offensive rebounding, and free throw rate.
That’s ultimately why it’s hard to rule out the Suns when the playoffs come around.
The Suns will give up plenty of turnovers to Cleveland. But Phoenix should win the foul-line battle and usually earn more offensive rebounds.
Cleveland will make it challenging on the glass. The Cavaliers also often hold teams to a low effective field goal percentage. However, the Suns have more offensive weapons to make things work. If Booker continues to play lights out, the Suns will go on a run heading into the playoffs.
That said, after reviewing the Cavaliers vs Suns betting trends and odds, we’ll take the Suns at -5.5 (-110). While the NBA scores today could get interesting with nine games on the slate, we’re very confident with the Suns at home here.
