Lynx and Storm Rematch in Lynx’s Home Opener

Storm vs Lynx Lines, Predictions, Props and More

Storm vs Lynx lines opened at Seattle Storm -2.5, a total of 161.5. Their game on Tuesday had Seattle as the -8 favorite, and the total was set at 164. The Storm were shocked in their home opener, they got smacked by the Lynx (not covering the WNBA lines of Storm -8) and the total went under at 153.

The Lynx showed their defensive prowess and continuity in the 83-70 victory on the road. This win spoiled the hyped acquisitions of Skylar Diggins-Smith and Nneka Ogwumike in their first game in Seattle uniforms.

The Lynx will look to continue their strong start at home on Friday in front of an excited Minneapolis crowd. The Storm, on the other hand, will be looking to put their disappointing first game behind them and spoil the Lynx’s home opener.

Storm vs Lynx lines are in, and we are going to look at the WNBA scores today, their last game against one another, and the best bets for their rematch.

Records: Seattle Storm (0-1) @ Minnesota Lynx (1-0)
Location: Target Center Minneapolis, MN
Day/Time: Television: WNBA League Pass, Ion

Seattle’s Spoiled Start

While the spotlight was on Diggins-Smith and Ogwumike, Seattle’s opening night didn’t go as planned for the Storm. Jewell Loyd, the Storm’s leading scorer from last year, was not playing up to the level fans came to expect last year. Loyd only scored 10 points in the game and was terrible from the field, shooting 3-of-19.

Although the Storm’s new “Core Four” didn’t live up to their preseason hype, they certainly showed glimpses. Despite not shooting well, Diggins-Smith showed what playmaking she is bringing to Seattle with some impressive assists. Magbegor had a decent night, scoring 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, and Ogwumike showed moments of post dominance.

The reality is that the Storm have plenty of seasons to right the ship, and Coach Noelle Quinn said as much after the game. Quinn called for patience as the new core built chemistry and integrated their free-agent acquisitions.

Minnesota Makes Mark

The Lynx started their season off hot. They were led on Tuesday by Alanna Smith, who had a career-high on opening night. She scored 16 points in the first half and ended the game with a game-high 22 points.

Although Smith led the offense, the Lynx defense was the real difference-maker in the game. They stifled Seattle’s offense throughout the game, forcing tough shots and contesting shots with veracity. The Lynx held the Storm to only 37.2% from the field, and only 1-of-9 (11.1%) from beyond the arc. The Lynx shot 45.3% from the field and 7-of-24 (29.2%) from three-point range.

The other bright offensive spot for the Lynx was in Napheesa Collier’s play. Collier’s versatility and ability to create her own shot were essential in extending the lead late in the game. She scored seven of her 20 points in the fourth quarter, right when things mattered most.

Storm Want Their Revenge

Storm vs Lynx lines are Lynx +2.5. The total is set at 161.5. With the last game they played only totalling 153 we are somewhat surprised by this total.

There are plenty of great WNBA players in this match and we are hoping it will be a good one on Friday. We expect better games from Skyler Diggins-Smith and Nneka Ogwumike, but with the Lynx playing at home, it may be hard for the Storm to get their revenge. The Lynx are also coming in with the confidence from a dominant victory on Tuesday, they will be looking to keep the defensive pressure on Friday.

That being said, the Storm have a more talented roster and higher expectations for the season. Although their coach is preaching patience, they will look to get their season going on the right track Friday.

Right now these team’s odds of winning the WNBA championship are quite different. The Storm have the third shortest odds to win it all at +900. They are -1000 to make the playoffs, and their season win total was set at 24.5.

The Lynx, on the other hand, have much longer odds. They are 50-1 to win the title and -180 to make the playoffs. Their season win total is set at 17.5.
