Lynx Open Season in Seattle Against Storm
Lynx vs Storm Battle in WNBA Opening Week

The Lynx vs Storm odds are currently Seattle -8 with a total set at 164. Both of these WNBA teams had disappointing seasons last year, and enter this season with new hope for playoffs appearances and maybe more.
These teams used to be yearly title contenders, but have fallen from the top. They will battle on Tuesday to try and start their season off on a good foot.
The Seattle Storm enter the 2024 WNBA season with a clear goal to reclaim their championship glory. After a disappointing 2023, the Storm aggressively reshaped their roster, acquiring All-Stars Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins-Smith to join their current best WNBA players Jewell Loyd and Ezi Magbegor. This group has immense talent, but questions linger about how they’ll gel.
The Minnesota Lynx are poised for a return to prominence in the 2024 WNBA season. After a successful rebuild in 2023, the team enters the year with a potent mix of experience and exciting young talent.

Where The Lynx Left Off
Last season’s record, while not a championship showing, marked a significant improvement over 2022’s struggles. Coach Cheryl Reeve instilled a new identity, and core players like Sylvia Fowles and Napheesa Collier thrived. Collier, the reigning WNBA Most Improved Player, averaged over 21 points per game, showcasing her development into a potential superstar.
The Lynx made some strategic moves in the offseason to bolster their roster. Signing All-Star free agents Alanna Smith and Courtney Williams adds much-needed scoring punch on the wing. Both players previously thrived under Coach Reeve in Chicago, so Lynx fans are hoping for a seamless integration. Additionally, drafting sharpshooter Alissa Pili at No. 8 provides a floor-spacing threat the team desperately needs.
While the Western Conference remains competitive, the Lynx appear well-positioned for a playoff run. Their experience, balanced roster, and improved offensive firepower make them a threat. With continued development from young players and a strong showing in the first half of the season, the Lynx could even challenge for the WNBA finals.
The Lynx currently sit at 11th in the WNBA power rankings but are hoping an opening night upset can vault them up.

Storm Hopeful for More
The backcourt duo of Loyd and Diggins-Smith is a match made in heaven. Loyd, fresh off a record-breaking scoring season, is an offensive artist. Diggins-Smith, returning after a year off, was arguably the league’s best point guard in 2022. Their shared history at Notre Dame and on Team USA should translate to some chemistry, but it is unclear if Diggins-Smith will be ready to return to her old form.
The frontcourt, however, doesn’t inspire as much confidence. Ogwumike, a midrange maestro and defensive stalwart, thrives in the pick-and-roll. Magbegor, a rising star, needs space to score. It is unclear whether these two can coexist well. Coach Noelle Quinn must find a way to maximize their strengths while letting both do what they do best.
Beyond the star power, the Storm need contributions from their role players to have success this season. Veterans like sharpshooter Sami Whitcomb, and young talent like Jordan Horston, a versatile forward, have the potential to become key pieces. Ideally, one or two will emerge as consistent scorers and defensive anchors, easing the pressure on the stars.
The road to the WNBA Finals won’t be easy. Powerhouses like Las Vegas, New York, and Connecticut stand in their way. But with a potent core that is loaded with talent and a deep supporting cast, the Storm have the firepower to make some noise this season. The question remains: can they overcome their growing pains and rediscover their championship form?

Although it looks like the Storm are more poised to vault themselves ahead from a disappointing season last year, getting eight points in the first game of the season is a tough line to pass up for Lynx believers.
