Favorites Roll on Road

Big Wins for East’s Top Teams
It was a night of blowout wins for the Eastern Conference’s best teams as the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers all did it easily on the road. Let’s check in with our NBA Matchups and Odds Recap to see how things went down around the league.
The Celtics used a big third quarter to propel them to a 111-99 win over the Detroit Pistons. The Celtics closed as 8.5-point favorites following the news that Jaylen Brown would sit out with illness.
When looking at last night’s NBA scores and odds, Detroit kept it close for the entirety of the first half before Jayson Tatum exploded for 18 points in the third period to help open up a 20-point lead for the Celtics. Things got tense down the stretch for those who bet the opening number, with a pair of missed free throws for Jaden Ivey costing anyone who bet the Pistons +11.0 on the opener.
The Cleveland Cavaliers took advantage of an understrength Washington Wizards by coasting to a 114-91 win in D.C. Bradley Beal was a late out for the Wizards who were already without Kyle Kuzma for this one.
The Cavs closed as 3.5-point road favorites and never look threatened in a game they led from start to finish. This one stayed comfortably Under the 220.5 point total as Washington’s offense continues to slump when missing two or more starters from their lineup.
The Milwaukee Bucks were even more impressive on the West coast as they comfortably handled the Portland Trail Blazers 127-108 to start off their West coast road trip.
The Bucks closed as 4.5-point favorites and continue to put up big numbers against the bottom-tier defenses in the league. Milwaukee is now 6-3 ATS in their last nine outings and are 12-7-1 ATS in non-conference matchups.
Warriors, Clippers Continue Surging
The Golden State Warriors recorded another big home win as they dispatched of the Oklahoma City Thunder 141-114.
The Warriors closed as 3.5-point favorites, with plenty of market support coming in on the Thunder in the absence of Steph Curry.
Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole combined for 63 points as the Warriors moved to 16-10-1 (59%) ATS at home this season.
The LA Clippers made it eight wins from their last 10 games as they secured a 124-116 road win over the shorthanded Brooklyn Nets.
The Nets, who recently traded away Kyrie Irving, were still without their new pieces but did provide some point spread drama in this one. The Clippers opened at 6.5-point favorites but were bet up to -8.5 points by tip-off.
The Clippers closed the game on a 6-0 run in the final minute to ensure a point spread cover for early bettors, but the closing number went the way of the Nets as they survived by the hook despite going 0-for-3 with a turnover on their final four possessions.
Tanking Teams Lose Big
The Houston Rockets continue to disappoint as they were blown out 140-120 at home to the Sacramento Kings.
The Kings got a boost with De’Aaron Fox off the NBA injury report and back in the starting lineup as he put up 16 points and 8 assists in 29 minutes of action. The Kings closed as 7.0-point favorites and never looked in doubt after taking a 65-48 lead into the half-time interval.
The San Antonio Spurs were also big losers as they went down 128-104 on the road to the Chicago Bulls.
The Bulls were vocal pre-game about avenging an earlier loss in San Antonio and were quick to assert their dominance against a weakened Spurs team. The Bulls comfortably covered the 9.5-point spread as they moved to 10-6 ATS as home favorites on the season.
The Dallas Mavericks were the big underdog winners of the night as they emerged 124-111 winners over the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City.
The Mavs were without Luka Doncic and played shorthanded following their trade with Brooklyn that saw them move Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith. Dallas closed as +9.5-point underdogs and ended up comfortably covering as they also cashed the +350 Moneyline for bettors.
The win helped ensure they stayed in the playoff picture in the West’s NBA standings as they await the arrival of Irving along with the return of Doncic.
Overall, it was another impressive night of totals in the marketplace with the full game Over/Unders going 4-4 on the eight-game slate.
