NBA Matchups Predictions: Previewing Tuesday’s Slate

Steph Curry Set to Return

All Eyes on Warriors, Suns Showdown

The Golden State Warriors will play host to the Phoenix Suns in the biggest game of the night, thanks in large part to the expected return of Steph Curry. Let’s take a look at our NBA Matchups Predictions ahead of this upcoming seven-game slate.

The Warriors have moved to 10.5-point favorites on the back of news that Steph Curry has been upgraded to probable for their division match up with the Suns. Curry has missed the team’s last 11 games due to a shoulder injury and his return could be the perfect boost for a NBA team that is once again finding its identity on defense.

The Suns meanwhile haven’t had any such injury luck of late and will again be without Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Cam Payne or Cam Johnson. Star big man Deandre Ayton has also popped up as questionable as the team tries to fight through a huge cluster of injuries that has seen them drop to 8th spot in the Western Conference.

The Suns are 1-6 against-the-spread (ATS) in their last seven games and have seen the full game total stay Under the market number in five straight contests as they struggle to find consistent offense. Expect the line to move slightly more towards Golden State should Curry be formally announced as available.

East Contenders Look to Take Care of Business

The Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors will all look to take care of business on their home floor when they play host to a bunch of non-playoff teams.

The Sixers are 9.5-point favorites at home to the Detroit Pistons, who they comfortably dispatched of a couple days ago on their home floor.

The 123-111 win as 6.0-point favorites made it two ATS covers for the 76ers against Detroit this season, with the home side comfortably covering as -12.0 point favorites at home last month. Joel Embiid has been upgraded as questionable for the 76ers, while the Pistons will now be without top-scorer Bojan Bogdanovic as their injury list continues to pile up.

If Embiid is made available this number will jump towards -13.0 points for Philly, who should make light work of a Detroit team now missing five key rotation pieces.

The Raptors will try to build some momentum on their homestand when they welcome the Charlotte Hornets to Scotiabank Arena.

Toronto opened as 7.5-point favorites for this one as they aim for back-to-back home wins for the first time since the end of November. Meanwhile, Charlotte are coming off their biggest win of the season after blowing out Milwaukee on the road.

‘Steve Clifford’s side will again be without Kelly Oubre, while Gordon Hayward is also listed as doubtful. Charlotte has covered the spread in six of their last eight road games, which also coincides with LaMelo Ball’s return to the lineup.’

The total in this game has been set at 232.5 points and has received early market support toward the Under.

The Heat will hope the NBA injury report is kind to them ahead of their home meeting with the OKC Thunder. Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro are both questionable for this one, while Kyle Lowry and Caleb Martin have already been ruled out for the home team.

Miami has been one of the hottest ATS teams over the past few nights, covering the number in six of their last eight games. They’ve also covered the spread in three straight home games.

The Thunder have seen 61% of their non-conference games go Over the full game total so far this season. The total for this one is currently set at 224.5 points.

Clippers, Blazers Hope to Snap Skids

The LA Clippers will try to snap a six-game losing streak when they play host to the Dallas Mavericks.

Both teams have huge questionable tags to their respective star players, with Luka Doncic and Paul George both unconfirmed. The market opened with the Clippers as 3.0-point favorites but that number could shift significantly in either direction depending on the status of both Doncic and George.

The Portland Trail Blazers will also hope a return home can help them find steady footing after dropping even in their last nine games. Their two wins did both come at home to non-playoff teams, however, and they’ll be hoping for more of the same against the travelling Orlando Magic.

The Magic are 7.0-point underdogs, a night after being blown out by the Sacramento Kings where they also closed as 7.0-point dogs.

‘Portland is 10-5 ATS at home this season, with an average winning margin of 6.1 points.’

The remaining game on the slate will see the Cleveland Cavaliers travel to Salt Lake City where they face the Utah Jazz.

The home side is currently 3.5-point underdogs, which is a role they’ve relished this season. Utah is 6-1 ATS as home underdogs this season, covering the spread by an average of +10.1 points.
