NBA Monday Games Recap: Point Spread Drama Around the League

Another Good Showing for Overs Bettors

Buzzer-Beaters Swing Spread Bets

The Atlanta Hawks and Indiana Pacers were both losers on Monday night, but both delivered huge final shots to swing the spread in their favor. Let’s dive into our NBA Monday Games Recap and see what went down around the league.

The Hawks blew a 15-point lead in South Beach as they lost for the second time in succession at the Miami Heat, but this time they did walk away with an ATS win as 2.5-point underdogs.

Atlanta simply couldn’t get stops as the Heat caught fire from beyond the arc, but with the game settled on a pair of Jimmy Butler free throws with 1.1 seconds remaining Dejounte Murray heaved a successful three-pointer at the buzzer to push the final score to 130-128.

The Pacers almost had a similar script at home to the Philadelphia 76ers. After leading for the majority of the contest they simply couldn’t keep up down the stretch and seemed to have blown the +6.5 point handicap after going almost five minutes with just a single field goal to start the fourth quarter.

A pair of Tyrese Maxey free throws with 5.2 seconds remaining looked to have sealed an unlikely cover for the 76ers, but a Tyrese Haliburton three-pointer at the buzzer kept the Pacers inside the number.

Celtics Fall in OT Again, Nuggets Clutch at Home

The understrength Boston Celtics fell again in OT as they blew a late 11-point lead in the fourth quarter to eventually fall 118-114 to suffer a third straight loss.

This spread initially opened with the Cavs listed as 2.5-point favorites, but once Boston announced that Al Horford and Jayson Tatum would join Rob Williams on the sidelines this number ballooned to +7.5 points for the road team.

The Celtics never looked in doubt covering the closing line, but early Cavs bettors were certainly given a lifeline as Grant Williams missed a pair of free throws with 0.1 seconds left in regulation to potentially steal a win.

The Denver Nuggets continue to be the most impressive team in the clutch as they again overcame a late deficit to record a 118-113 win over the Toronto Raptors.

The Toronto Raptors led by as many as eight points in the final period but a 13-4 run to close the game saw the Nuggets improve to 46-19 on the season. Toronto did do enough to cover the 6.0-point spread though as they improved to 12-9 (57.1%) ATS as a road underdog.

Blazers Keep Fighting, Kings Deal Blow to NOLA

The Portland Trail Blazers picked up an important win in their bid for a play-in spot as they held on for a 110-104 win at the Detroit Pistons.

Portland closed as 4.5-point favorites and despite leading by as many as 19-points still needed to dodge a three-pointer by Isaiah Livers with 8.1 seconds remaining to avoid blowing the cover. The Blazers never trailed and were a popular NBA picks and parlays moneyline option for bettors given the tanking going on in Detroit.

The Sacramento Kings continue their push for the #2 seed in the West as they secured a 123-108 home win over the New Orleans Pelicans despite being without star guard De’Aaron Fox.

The Kings closed as 5.0-point favorites and used a huge 38-20 third quarter to ultimately put the game beyond reach and ensure they covered another home spread. The Kings are now 24-15-1 (61.5%) ATS when playing against conference opponents this season.

Full game totals went 4-2 (66.7%) in favor of the Over as points continue to pile on across the league. Only the Blazers and Kings stayed Under their respective market numbers.
