NBA Thursday Games Recap: Nuggets, Celtics Win Big

Top Teams Take Care of Business

Blowout Wins for Offensive Juggernauts

The Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets cemented themselves as the top NBA teams in their respective conferences as both scored big wins on national TV. Let’s dive into our NBA Thursday Games Recap to see how the markets performed.

The Celtics comfortably covered the line in their 124-95 win over the Dallas Mavericks. The road team opened as 2.0-point favorites, with strong market support seeing them close -3.5 in some spots.

Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with his second career triple-double as the NBA’s best team snapped out of their offensive funk in impressive fashion.

Boston’s defense also played their part in the win as they held MVP frontrunner Luka Doncic to season-lows in assists (3), 3-pointers made (0) and points created (31). Despite the Celtics pouring on the points this one still stayed Under the full game total (230.0 points).

The Nuggets went one better in their route of the LA Clippers as they embarrassed the best road team in the West 122-91 in front of their home fans.

Denver led 65-32 at halftime and comfortably covered the line for early and late bettors. The market opened with the Nuggets listed as 6.0-point favorites before closing at -4.5 on the back of the news that Paul George would play for the visitors in our NBA Thursday Games Recap.

The Celtics and Nuggets remain the two best teams in the NBA Standings 2023.

Home Dogs Kept Quiet

Home Underdogs have been one of the best money makers for sports bettors this season. So far this season, they are 59% against-the-spread (ATS) but went 0-3 tonight as the Mavs, Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic failed to cover.

The Magic almost snuck in the back door as they rallied from 25 points down to fall just shy of covering the +7.0 point spread in a 123-115 loss.

The home side snuck inside the number with 1:53 remaining in the final quarter as a Caleb Houstan 3-pointer made it 120-114, but their rally fell short as they couldn’t manage a field goal after that and split their only two free throw attempts.

The Rockets also failed to deliver at home as the Utah Jazz snapped a four-game skid with a 131-114 road win as 6.5-point favorites.

Houston took an 86-85 lead with 2:21 remaining in the third quarter, but a 10-0 run by the Jazz saw them take a nine point lead into the final frame. Utah never let up from there and closed the game on a 21-8 run to ensure an easy cover on a night where the favorites went 4-0 ATS.

Totals All Even Once Again

The full game totals went 2-2 on the Over/Under as the market continues to perform strongly overall.

The season tally is now sitting at 294-279 for full game totals, with the Overs slightly ahead with a 51.3% streikrate. Blind betting either side for the full season however would result in a negative return to date.
