NBA Wednesday Matchups Recap: Warriors Squeak Out Tense Win

Markets Evenly Split on 10-Game Slate

Warriors, Sixers Deliver on National TV

The Golden State Warriors scored a dramatic 122-120 win over the Memphis Grizzlies to cap off a tough day of betting across the league. Let’s dive into our NBA Wednesday Matchups Recap and see how the markets performed across the board.

The Warriors needed a late comeback in front of their home fans to again dispatch of the Grizzlies in the game of the night. Golden State trailed by 10 points with 6:04 remaining in the final quarter, but a 17-4 run saw them assume control before Steph Curry was ejected with just over a minute to play.

Jordan Poole delivered the final hammer blow with 1.0 seconds to play to avoid OT and cash the totals for Under bettors who had to sweat out their 245.5 point tickets. The Grizzlies did however cover opening and closing numbers for bettors, with the +3.0 and +4.5 getting over the line.

The Philadelphia 76ers held on in rather dramatic fashion to record a 137-133 win over the Brooklyn Nets in the early televised game. The Nets trailed by as many as 16 points in the final moments of the third quarter before making a run that saw them tie the game at 120 a piece with 4:09 to play.

That was as close as they came to snatching a big road win, but the team did play out the remainder of the game covering the spread and cashing the +7.0 point tickets for their bettors. The total for this game closed at 225.0 points and comfortably sailed Over the number by 45 points.

Tanking Teams Continue to Falter

The Houston Rockets put on another tanking masterclass as they blew a 19-point lead at home to the Washington Wizards, falling 108-103 on their home floor.

Houston’s fourth quarter efforts this season have been tragic at best and the team again folded in the final 12 minutes as they lost the final period 37-22 to lose outright and blow the +2.5-point cover.

The San Antonio Spurs followed suit for the third consecutive game where they again blew at halftime lead to lose outright and fail to cover the spread for the underdog bettors. The Lakers snatched a 113-104 home win despite trailing heading into the final quarter.

The Lakers were awarded a dubious flagrant foul on a half-court heave with 0.2 seconds remaining in the third quarter that resulted in three made free throws for Anthony Davis. Those made shots proved the difference between which team covered the spread, with the market closing at 7.5-points in favor of the Lakers.

The Indiana Pacers free-fall continued as they fell 126-120 on the road to the Orlando Magic. The Pacers were playing the second of a back-to-back and simply couldn’t hold on in the second half as tired legs began to show.

The Magic covered the -5.0 point spread and moved to 17-9 ATS on their home floor this season.

Recapping the Remainder

The Minnesota Timberwolves recorded an important 111-102 road win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Pelicans welcomed back Brandon Ingram and took early control as they went into half-time holding a six-point lead. The Timberwolves responded with a 39-21 effort in the third quarter that propelled them to a double-digit lead that they never looked like surrendering against a team who was again playing their second game of a back-to-back.

The Atlanta Hawks continued their upward trajectory with an impressive 137-132 win over the OKC Thunder.

The Hawks closed as 2.0-point favorites on the road and finished the game shooting 60% from the floor on a night where all five starters scored 18+ points.

The Milwaukee Bucks took care of a heavily depleted Denver Nuggets team at home as they secured a 107-99 win.

The Nuggets were without Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr or Kentavious Caldwell-Pope as they faced a rough road back-to-back situation. The team did still managed to cover the 12.5-point spread though.

The Toronto Raptors picked up a much-needed road win as they emerged with a 113-95 win over the in-form Sacramento Kings.

The Raptors led wire-to-wire against one of the top teams in the NBA standings Western Conference and did so by holding Sacramento under 100 points at home for the first time this season. This market saw some late action steam on the full game Under as the market moved from 239.5 points to 237.5 points by tip-off.

The Portland Trail Blazers made it back-to-back home wins as Damian Lillard’s 60-point effort helped them to a 134-124 win over the Utah Jazz.

The Blazers took the lead on a buzzer-beater 3-pointer from Nassir Little to close out the first half and never trailed after that as Lillard’s season-high helped them to cover the 3.5-point spread.
