Double-Header Blowouts on National Spotlight

The Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks recorded blowout wins on national television on a night where only eight games were played due to severe weather conditions. Let’s take a look at our NBA Wednesday Recap and see what went on around the league.

The Celtics made it 10 straight wins over the Brooklyn Nets as they put on a show at the TD Garden. Boston ran out 139-96 winners on a night where they closed as 8.5-point favorites in the market.

The home side hit eight 3-pointers in the opening quarter as they took a commanding 46-16 lead into the first break. The hosts didn’t let up as they asserted their dominance in the division and likely closed Brooklyn’s hopes of catching them in that regard.

A lot of money came in support of the Under here, with the total closing at 224.0 points after opening at 227.5 points in most places. Boston’s offensive explosion meant this one comfortably went Over both the closing and opening numbers.

The Atlanta Hawks put on a similar show in Phoenix were they routed the Suns 132-100 on their home floor. The Hawks went on a 22-3 run early in the second quarter to blow things open and never looked back from there as they moved back to .500 on the season.

Atlanta closed as 1.5-point underdogs and moved to 12-5 ATS against Western conference opponents this season. This one just etched Over the 231.5 point total on a garbage time jumpshot by Saben Lee for the Suns with 13 seconds remaining.

Grizzlies, Warriors Suffer Tough Losses

The Memphis Grizzlies suffered their seventh straight loss as they were beaten 122-112 at home to the Portland Trail Blazers. The Blazers closed as high as 6.0-point underdogs here while the total fell Under the 239.5 point total as well as the opening number of 234.5 points.

The Grizzlies blew three separate double-digit leads to a team that lost key starters Jusuf Nurkic and Jerami Grant in the opening 24 minutes of game time. Portland closed the game on a 22-7 run over the final 4:40 of play to steal a big win for them as they try to move back into the playoff picture in a crowded Western Conference NBA standings 2023.

The Golden State Warriors blew a 12-point fourth quarter lead on the road in Minnesota as the Timberwolves secured their first OT win of the season.

Minnesota was blown out to 5.5-point underdogs with the late news that Rudy Gobert would be out but as has been the case so often this season the home dog emerged strongest as the Timberwolves held on for a 119-114 win. Despite going into OT this game still stayed Under the 242.0 point total.

Best of the Rest

The Philadelphia 76ers got their revenge over the Orlando Magic as they came away with a 105-94 win on their home floor.

The Sixers closed as 10.0-point favorites after losing outright in this matchup just a couple days ago laying a similar number. While the result and spread winner flipped this time around the total again fell comfortably Under the 230.5-point total as the Sixers defense stepped up in a big way down the stretch, holding the Magic to just 16 points in the final quarter.

Sacramento secured a solid road win as they covered a -7.5-point spread against the San Antonio Spurs.

The home team got to within one point to start the fourth quarter but ultimately couldn’t hang around as they too dealt with in-game injuries to starters Jeremy Sochan and Tre Jones very early on. This game also fell comfortably Under its full game total of 244.0-points.

The Houston Rockets were another home underdog winner as they ousted the Oklahoma City Thunder 112-106 in front of their home fans.

The Rockets closed as 6.0-point underdogs and the win relegated the Thunder to just 1-4 ATS as road favorites this season.

In the final game of the night the Utah Jazz secured a 131-128 home win over the Toronto Raptors. Utah covered the closing number of -2.5 but early Toronto bettors managed a push on their +3.0 tickets thanks to a Scottie Barnes layup at the buzzer.
