Unders Bettors Cash Big on Sunday Night
It was a wonderful night of basketball for Unders bettors on Sunday as they went 7-1 (87.5%) on the eight game NBA slate. Let’s take a look at the NBA Weekend Matchups Recap to see how things went down around the league.
Over the course of the weekend, full game totals went 10-5 (66.7%) in favor of of the Unders. After a couple of consecutive weekends of high-scoring basketball things came back to the mean as offenses cooled off and pace of play dropped on average.
The LA Clippers played back-to-back games over the weekend, going 1-1 straight up and ATS but seeing both their games stay Under the total.
Kawhi Leonard sat out the first leg of the back-to-back at home to the Orlando Magic and the team was subsequently shocked 113-108 as 6.5-point favorites. The game stayed comfortably Under the 231.5 point total though as non-conference action skewed heavily towards the Under on inflated totals.
LA bounced back though with a 117-102 road win over the Portland Trail Blazers, who have all but ended their pursuit of a play-in spot in the Western Conference.
The game stayed Under the closing number by 17 points as the pace of play stayed comfortably below league-average and both offenses saw some 3-point shooting regression.
The Blazers are now 3.5 games behind the LA Lakers in the #10 seed in the Western Conference NBA standings and are running out of time to make a run for a play-in spot.
The LA Lakers also picked up an important win over the Magic, who played their second of the LA back-to-back.
The home team escaped with a tense 111-105 win that saw them fail to cover the 6.5-point spread by the slimmest of margins. This one also stayed well Under the 230.0 point total.
Nuggets Split in New York, Kings Keeping Pace
The Denver Nuggets split their two New York outings on a weekend back-to-back as they were downed by the New York Knicks before taking care of the Brooklyn Nets.
The Knicks got Jalen Brunson back as they secured a 116-110 win as 1.0-point underdogs that helped them move to within 2.0 games of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the chase for the #4 seed in the East.
The Nuggets, who had lost five of their last six outings, then went to Brooklyn and came away with a 108-102 win to help steady momentum.
Nikola Jokic finished with 22 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists to help ignite a response from the Nuggets who have seen their gap at the top of the Western Conference dwindle to just 4.0 games.
The Sacramento Kings are the team leading the chase as they secured another win on their final East coast stop in Washington.
The Kings were 132-118 winners over the Wizards as they again covered the 4.0-point spread for bettors riding their hot streak. It was also one of the few games to comfortably eclipse the full game total as it went Over the 235.0 point total.
Thunder Streaking, Celtics Slumping
The Oklahoma City Thunder pulled off another impressive win as they ran out 124-120 winners at home to the Phoenix Suns.
The Thunder are now up to the #8 seed in the West and improved their league-best ATS record to 42-26-3 (61.8%) after they closed as 1.0-point favorites in this one.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics continue to slide as they again dropped a close game in Utah, going down 118-117 to the Jazz.
The Celtics have now dropped five of their last nine games and have slipped to the #3 seed in the East after spending the majority of the season with the NBA’s best record.
The Jazz, who closed at +4.5 points on the spread, improved to 9-1 (90%) ATS as home underdogs this season.
The Philadelphia 76ers moved into the #2 seed and took control of the Atlantic Division as they ran out 141-121 winners at Indiana.
The Pacers were without Tyrese Haliburton or Bennedict Mathurin, but still put up impressive offensive numbers. That said, they simply had no answer for MVP frontrunner Joel Embiid who finished with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists
The Sixers are now 12-8 (60%) ATS as road favorites this season.
