NBA Weekend Results: Unders Delight
Things Getting Wild in the West

Sixers Tumble Out West
Joel Embiid’s MVP campaign took a hit as the Philadelphia 76ers dropped back-to-back games on their West coast road trip. Let’s take a look at the NBA Weekend Results and see how things unfolded on a manic couple days in the association.
Unders bettors enjoyed a very profitable weekend on totals as they went 10-5 (66.7%), with one of those wins coming in Golden State as the Warriors down the 76ers 120-112.
The Sixers were without James Harden and closed as 4.5-point underdogs in a game they looked to be in control of heading into the final quarter. A 10-2 run in the final 2 minutes saw the hosts emerge with an important win as they flexed their championship pedigree in the clutch.
Philadelphia then played the second of a back-to-back in Arizona as they took on an equally desperate Phoenix Suns team that was entering on the back of a three game losing streak.
The Suns, who closed as 1.0-point favorites, were also able to take control of the game in the fourth quarter as tired legs showed up for Philly. A 36-22 fourth quarter helped the Suns to a 125-105 win as they held Embiid to 28 points on 8-for-19 shooting.
Embiid remains the leagues points leader this season as his NBA player stats keep him among the frontrunners for this years MVP award.
Despite that win there’s just 2.5 games separating the Suns in the #4 seed and the Oklahoma City Thunder, who currently occupy the #10 seed. Meanwhile, back-to-back losses have all but eliminated the 76ers from making a run at the top seed in the East as they now sit 4.0 games behind the Milwaukee Bucks.
Mavs Imploding, Nuggets Make Statement
The Dallas Mavericks were 110-104 losers at the Charlotte Hornets as they dropped back-to-back games against one of the worst teams in the NBA.
The Mavs have now lost four straight games and have dropped out of the play-in picture as they stare down the real possibility of missing the playoffs.
Luka Doncic spoke publicly about no longer playing happy and it seems things are very much of paramount concern in Dallas right now as the Kyrie Irving experiment continues to go sideways.
The Hornets closed as 12.5-point underdogs and were the largest outright winners over the weekend as they cashed +550 Moneyline tickets for bettors.
Things went much better for Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets as they earned a big marquee win over the top team in the NBA.
The Nuggets were 129-106 winners over the Milwaukee Bucks and took advantage of a tough spot for the road team who were playing the second of a back-to-back after being in Utah prior.
Denver closed as 3.5-point favorites and ended up comfortably covering the spread thanks to a 64-40 disparity after halftime. Jokic finished with 31 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists as he makes a push for a third straight MVP, while Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded 31 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in a losing effort.
The Boston Celtics took full advantage on Sunday night as they earned a comfortable 137-93 home win over the San Antonio Spurs.
Boston was without Jayson Tatum for this one, but the Celtics still closed as 16.5-point favorites and despite losing the opening quarter they made light work of a young Spurs team that is still playing shorthanded. Boston still remains 1.5 games behind the Bucks for the #1 seed in the East.
Lakers Lose on LeBron’s Return, Clippers Falter without PG
LeBron James made his return from a foot injury as he came off the bench for just the second time in his career.
The Lakers were playing host to the Chicago Bulls and closed as 5.5-point favorites as they continue to try and work their way out of the play-in scenario in the West.
Things didn’t quite go to plan though as they were convincingly beaten in a 118-108 loss. Pat Beverley made his return to face the team that released him at the trade deadline and finished with 10 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists. The most memorable moment however came when he managed a hook shot over LeBron only to celebrate against his former teammate by signalling he was “too small” to guard him.
The game did have some late market drama though as a garbage time Malik Beasley 3-pointer with just 8.1 seconds remaining saw this go Over the closing number of 224.0 points.
Meanwhile, things weren’t much better for the other half of LA as the Clippers were 131-110 losers at home to the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Clippers closed as 5.0-point favorites but looked a disjointed team as they try to acclimate to life without Paul George. The loss leaves them just 1.0 games up on the #7 seed Minnesota Timberwolves, who earned a huge 99-96 win at the Golden State Warriors.
The Timberwolves welcomed back Anthony Edwards into their rotation as they had their new-look starting lineup available for the first time this season. Towns hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with just 9.9 seconds remaining as he hit the game-winning basket for the second time in as many games since making his return from injury.
Spread bettors were far more evenly split than the total over the weekend, with favorites going 7-8 (46.7%) ATS.
