Over Looks Likely in Wolves and Nuggets Game One

Timberwolves vs Nuggets Betting Odds, Predictions and More

Timberwolves vs Nuggets betting odds currently show the Nuggets at -4.5 with a total set at 208.

The Nuggets will be looking to continue their run toward another NBA championship, while the Timberwolves are looking to continue to prove the doubters wrong and upset the defending champs.

The Timberwolves looked excellent in their first series, showing their defensive dominance in a 4-0 sweep of the Phoenix Suns. Anthony Edwards was in full-on superstar mode in the series.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

Edwards averaged 31.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 6.3 assists in four games in the first round, and will need to lead the Timberwolves scoring again to keep up with the smooth offense of the Nuggets.

Denver had a bit more exciting first-round series, performing a gentleman’s sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers 4-1, but getting two of their four wins with a couple of huge clutch plays in classic playoff nail-biters.

Even with losing one game to the Lakers, the Nuggets didn’t seem to over-exert themselves and will enter this series with a little extra fire in their chest.

With our Timberwolves vs Nuggets betting odds out, let’scheck out this matchup, the NBA Western Conference standings, and the NBA playoff schedule to see where we can find an edge.

Murray the Key

Nikola Jokic will get his numbers and will be magnificent. Nobody has been able to stop him in the playoffs, and we don’t expect that to start on Saturday.

That being said, Jamal Murray is often the piece that defines exactly how high the Nuggets ceiling is. The Nuggets are 15-3 in playoff games where Murray has scored 20+ points over the last three NBA seasons.

In his first-round series against the Lakers, Murray had some bright moments and had 20 or more points in each game.

That being said, he shot quite poorly from the field, failing to shoot 50% even once in theseries, and only making over nine field goals in game five.

Murray’s points prop is currently set at 24.5 for game one, a line we believe is much too high.

Murray has only scored over 24 points three times in his last ten games and averaged 23.0 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.7 rebounds in his last ten games against the Wolves.

Gobert Has to Work

The Timberwolves will likely go in this series as far as Anthony Edwards can lead them. He is the sole scoring alpha on this defensive-minded squad, but to stay in the series at all, they will need their defense.

This defense is anchored by Rudy Gobert, who will likely win his fourth Defensive Player of the Year trophy in the coming weeks.

Gobert is key to handling all that is NikolaJokic, and will likely see as much playing time as he can handle, attempting to disrupt the Joker’s offensive brilliance.

One prop we like for Gobert is for Gobert to notch a double-double. He is currently listed at -150 to get a double-double but has gotten one in five of his last six NBA games against the Nuggets, including the final three games of last year’s playoffs.

Nuggets Win, Over Hits

Timberwolves vs Nuggets betting odds are Nuggets -4.5 with a total set at 208. We think the Nuggets will take control of the series with a solid game-one victory, but the Timberwolves are playing with an energy that we can’t take lightly.

Two of the Nugget’s four wins against the Lakers came down to the wire, so Denver backers should feel better about taking the Nugget’s money line of -180.

Timberwolves bakersonthe otherhandshould feel good about getting 4.5 points and take the spread.

When you see the NBA live scores on Saturday we expect something a little higher than the 208 for the point total.

In their last series, the Wolves only had one game under 208 against the Suns, and the Nuggets had only one game under that number against the Lakers.

In these teams’ last five matches, they have gone over the 208 mark only once as well.

In their five-game playoff series last season, only one game went under 208, but it was game one. That game one is the last time since November of 2021 that these NBA teams went under the 208 mark.

Although we expect this game to be a grind-it-out playoff atmosphere, especially in game one, each team will still be learning their best defensive schemes. Take a look at the over for a good bet on Saturday.
