Paul George Next Team Odds: Clippers Favored

Philadelphia Has Interest, Along With Others

Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George has two options. He can sign a one-year deal with the Clippers for $48.7 million. Or he can opt-out and become a free agent. All signs point to George becoming a free agent and looking for a long-term deal. At 34 years old, this could be the last multiyear deal George can extract out of a team and he’s going to make the best of it.

Most people expect George to return with the Clippers next season, but it isn’t a given. Teams like Philadelphia and Orlando have expressed interest and others could join the fray. The Paul George next team odds have the Clippers as a solid favorite to resign him.

His career stats show that he hasn’t slowed down. Getting on the court has been a problem recently. This past season was the first time he’s played in more than 70 games since the 2018-19 season. He’s still one of the best NBA players around when he’s healthy, which is why there will be a lot of interest.

Clippers logo Los Angeles Clippers -300

A look at the Clippers roster shows why it’s imperative to bring George back. The Clippers aren’t getting any younger. But they could have a few good seasons left if they can get George, James Harden, and Russell Westbrook back. Los Angeles needs at least two of them back and preferably all three. It wouldn’t be a huge shock to see the old guard band together for one more final deep playoff run.

76ers logo Philadelphia 76ers +700

The 76ers have already been linked to George and he definitely would help fill a need. It wouldn’t be cheap, but players of George’s talent seldom are. There’s a reason the Paul George next team odds have the Philadelphia 76ers as the favorite among new destinations. The biggest question is if George will seriously consider leaving the Clippers or if he will be using the 76ers for leverage.

Magic logo Orlando Magic +800

The Orlando Magic might not be a huge destination for free agents, but the team has plenty of money to spend. Orlando is also a team that looks to be on the upswing, which could be appealing to a veteran like George. The Magic can afford to give him some serious cash and a chance to make some noise in the playoffs.

Lakers logo Los Angeles Lakers +1500

The Paul George next team odds have the Lakers at +1500, although it seems pretty unlikely. He does have his ties to the Los Angeles area, which is what drew him to the Clippers in the first place. The Lakers will have some money to spend.

Pelicans logo New Orleans Pelicans, Miami Heat Heat logo +2000

The Pelicans and Heat could use George. It’s a question if he sees enough positives in each team to consider signing there. Both are solid teams and George presumably wants to go where he has a chance to win.

Thunder logo Oklahoma City Thunder +2500

Stranger things have happened, although it seems unlikely George would head back to the Thunder. After he forced his way out of Oklahoma City during his first stint, the Thunder may not be willing to give him the money he wants to see.

Suns logo Phoenix Suns +3000

The Suns also check off some of the boxes George wants to see. Phoenix has cash and a winning team, which makes them a possibility, no matter how remote its chances of signing him are.

The Field +4000 and Higher

The remaining teams are all at +4000 and higher, although several are intriguing options. One team that could make a serious run at George is the New York Knicks at +5000. The Knicks have some talent but would need to be a little creative in getting George to the team. Don’t be surprised if the George to New York steam picks up a little bit in June.
