The odds are in and we are going to dive into the WNBA scores and odds for our Aces vs Storm Preview.

The Aces are -5 favorites on the road against the Storm.

They are -215 to win the game straight up and the Storm are +172 to win on their home floor. The total for the game is set at 173.5.

Both of these teams have been hot of late. The Storm ended a four game winning streak last week and have won four of their last five games.

The Aces were on an absolute scorcher as well, climbing up the WNBA standings with a six game winning streak that ended in an overtime loss to the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Seattle Storm are currently the second seed in the Western Conference and the fourth overall seed in the WNBA.

They have won seven of their last ten games.

They are led in scoring by Jewell Loyd who averages nearly 20 points a game, in rebounds by Ezi Magbegor with nine per game, and in assists by Skylar Diggins-Smith.

The Las Vegas Aces are the third seed in the West and the fifth overall seed in the league. Despite a slow start to the season, they’ve won eight of their last ten games.

They are led by the heavy favorite to win the WNBA, A’ja Wilson. She is averaging a double-double with 27 points and 10.9 rebounds per game. Jackie Young leads the team in assists with 5.7 per game.

Earlier Season Matchups

  • The first time these two teams played this season, the Storm rode a hot second half to a 78-65 victory.

Jewell Loyd continued her impressive scoring streak, dropping 25 points and grabbing nine rebounds to lead the Storm.

Skylar Diggins-Smith was instrumental in the second half surge

Skylar Diggins-Smith was instrumental in the second half surge, scoring 19 of her 21 points after the break, including a clutch stretch with two threes and a key assist.

Seattle also received strong contributions from their frontcourt, with Nneka Ogwumike and Ezi Magbegor each registering double-doubles.

Ogwumike chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Magbegor was a force on both ends with 14 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists.

  • The Storm’s defense deserves credit as well, shutting down the Aces in the first half. Las Vegas only managed 10 baskets on 34 attempts (29%) in the opening two quarters, with A’ja Wilson’s 29 points being a lone bright spot.

Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young, typically offensive threats, were held in check by Seattle’s defensive pressure.

In their second meeting, the Aces welcomed back All-Star point guard Chelsea Gray with a dominant 94-83 victory over the Seattle Storm.

Gray, returning from a left foot injury, didn’t light up the scoreboard herself with just one point, but her presence ignited the offense.

Young and Wilson led the scoring charge for the Aces, combining for 59 points. The entire Las Vegas team was clicking, shooting a scorching 56% from the field and racking up 25 assists.

Seattle’s usually potent offense sputtered, particularly Jewell Loyd who was held to a single point, snapping her impressive 55-game streak of scoring in double digits.

Despite a late surge led by Ogwumike and Magbegor, the Storm couldn’t overcome the hot-shooting Aces WNBA and their well-oiled offense fueled by Gray’s return.

Coming Off Wins

  • The Aces are coming off a big win against the Dallas Wings in their last game. They won the game 104-85, pulling ahead with a big 26-17 third quarter after going into halftime fairly even.

A’ja Wilson scored a game-high 28 points and chipped in 10 rebounds. Kelsey Plum also had a big scoring night, pouring in 23 points. Jackie Young had 18 points, six rebounds and five assists.

The Storm beat the Chicago Sky 84-71 in their last game

The Storm beat the Chicago Sky 84-71 in their last game. They were led by a big game from Nneka Ogwumike who put in 24 points and had 13 rebounds.

  • Jewell Loyd also had 20 points, and Ezi Magbegor had a 13 point, 13 rebound, double-double.

Spread Watch

It seems through this Aces vs Storm preview, that these teams may be closer matched than the five point spread indicates. The Aces are on a 6-2 run against the spread in their last eight games.

However, it’s worth noting this success hasn’t translated perfectly to away games. Their ATS record on the road in the last five games is just 1-4.

  • Seattle has been playing well recently, going 5-1 both against the spread and straight up in their last six games. They’ve also leaned towards lower scoring games, with the total going under in four of these contests.

However, this success hasn’t translated well historically against Las Vegas.

The Storm have struggled against their rivals, only winning one of their last nine matchups and going 2-6 against the spread in their last eight meetings.
