Sky vs Liberty Betting Trends
The Chicago Sky are 9-12 against the spread, including 4-7 at home. Chicago’s been slightly more profitable for Over/Under bettors, going 11-10.

Tide Turning for Sky
Wednesday’s 78-69 win over Atlanta improved Chicago to 3-1 over its last four, and the 9-12 Sky are now firmly in the playoff mix as the Olympic break awaits.
Angel Reese secured her WNBA-record 14th consecutive double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, helping the Sky cover as 7-point favorites.
- Reese, who is averaging 14.0 points and an WNBA-leading 11.9 rebounds, has seen her Rookie of the Year odds soar to +360. However, she’s still a distant second on the odds board behind Indiana guard Caitlin Clark (-600), who has mostly lived up to her billing as the No. 1 overall pick.
Chicago (5-5 over its last 10 games) is now seventh in the WNBA standings, 1.5 games behind sixth-place Phoenix; the top eight teams make the postseason. As such, the Sky’s playoff odds have climbed to -600, making them one of the surest bets on the board.
It’s been quite a turnaround for Teresa Weatherspoon’s team, who started 4-9. Chicago split a pair of games against the Liberty during that stretch, beating them 90-81 on May 23 and losing 88-75 on June 4. Guard Marina Mabrey averaged 18 points in both matchups.
Despite that improvement, Chicago remains a liability for bettors. The Sky have covered in only four of their last 12 games to fall to 9-12 ATS, equaling a cover rate of only 42.8%. They’ve been underdogs in a majority of matchups, though that’ll change if they continue to win. Bettors should keep that in mind when making their Sky vs Liberty WNBA predictions.
Top of the Heap
All remains well with the Liberty, who beat Connecticut 71-68 on Wednesday to improve to a WNBA-best 18-4. New York is now 12-2 since the start of June, with both losses coming on the road (99-93 at Phoenix, 83-78 at Indiana).
- As such, it remains the biggest threat to two-time defending champion Las Vegas’ chase for a three-peat. New York is now +170 to win the WNBA title, a smidge behind the Aces (+155) but significantly better than the third and fourth teams on the board, Minnesota and Connecticut (+900).
Breanna Stewart, of course, has had a big hand in New York’s success. The reigning WNBA MVP has four double-doubles over the last five games and is averaging 19.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.5 blocks. Meanwhile, Sabrina Ionescu is fifth among WNBA players in assist rate (6.3).
New York ranks second in scoring (86.0) and third in scoring defense (77.5), making it one of the league’s most balanced teams. It has beaten opponents by an average of 8.5 points.
However, like Chicago, New York remains a big liability for bettors. The Liberty, favored all but once this season (+2.5 at Las Vegas on June 15) per WNBA scores, have covered in only three of their last nine games. They are just 9-14 ATS, including a hard-to-fathom 2-10 at home. In fact, the Liberty had failed to cover in five straight home games prior to their June 2 victory over Minnesota.
Bettors should also note that the total has gone Under in four of New York’s last five games.
Handicapping the Game
The first time these teams met, May 23 in New York, the Liberty were whopping 16.5-point favorites. My how things have changed.
The Liberty are still significantly better than Chicago, though the gap’s changed. That’s a credit to Weatherspoon and the Sky, who have undergone a steady transformation following a 4-9 start. Chicago is 5-3 over its last eight games, including victories over potential playoff teams in Indiana and Seattle.
The Liberty — who may be without guard Betnijah Laney (knee) — will be tested at home, where they are 10-2 but have covered only 16.6% of the time.
