Suns vs Clippers Betting Odds Preview: Senior Citizens Meet in L.A.
Aged Division Rivals Play Second Matchup of Season

Clippers Slightly Favored on Second Night of Back-to-Back
With average ages at around 28 years and change, the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers are two of the NBA’s oldest teams. In fact, these grizzled veterans have been banged up hence why sportsbooks scrutinize their betting lines even more than usual.
The Suns vs Clippers betting Odds slightly favor the home team even if they just played last night. That’s likely due to Phoenix potentially missing a pair of star basketball players.

Phoenix Suns Fading With Injuries
With five straight losses, the Suns are in uncharted territory. This is the longest losing streak for the team since Chris Paul joined in 2020. The 37-year-old point guard is on his last legs and the teams winless (0-4) since he returned from injury. That’s also due to leading scorer Devin Booker (hamstring) being hobbled.
The three-time All-Star has shot just 34.9 percent from the field in his four prior to finally sitting out on Sunday. The team is 12-8 without Booker since 2020. But he’s not the only missing piece as center DeAndre Ayton left the last game with an ankle injury. Ayton leads the team in rebounds (9.5) and is the second-leading scorer (17).
With their current slide, Phoenix would be a bigger underdog on the Suns vs Clippers betting Odds if it were not for the Clippers’ own absences (or questionable player statuses).
“Sometimes when it rains, it pours, man,” Suns guard Landry Shamet told the Republic after Tuesday’s loss to Houston. Chris Paul added, “[We have to] stay the course. It’s a long season. We’re not even halfway through [it] yet.”
Paul has not experienced a losing skid like this since his time with the 2017-18 Rockets. Of course, this team went on to win the most games that season (65) and pushed the defending NBA champions, the Warriors, during the playoffs. This Suns team is filled with veterans and is just two years removed from an NBA Finals appearance.
Phoenix is rarely an underdog. It’s struggling in the NBA against the spread (ATS) (14-14-0). But since 2020, the Suns have the second-best cover rate (55.6 percent) and the best as an underdog (60 percent).
The Suns have lost five straight but are 4-2 ATS in their last six against the Clippers, who could also be without key players.
Los Angeles Clippers Picking Up
While Phoenix is fading with injuries, the Clippers are getting healthier and picking up momentum. The Clippers have won three straight and are 4-1 ATS in their last five games. More impressively, this team held Boston to just 93 points. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are finally playing together, which is something fans dare not get used to.
“I’m not worried about tonight,” Leonard said after the Clippers’ win over the Celtics. “I don’t want to be here tonight; I’m focusing on the end of the year. Playoff basketball. Doesn’t matter about tonight.”
Leonard had his best game of the season as he shot 10-of-12 and scored 25 points to go with nine boards and six assists. It was the type of performance that proved that he still had “it”.
The two-time Finals MVP has missed more games than he’s played since inking that massive deal with the Clippers in 2019. He and his running mate have both been frequent on the 2022 NBA injuries list.
George, who has also missed over 40 percent of the team’s games, had his first triple-double as a Clipper against Minnesota. The seven-time All-Star made just 4-of-13 field goals but he had 17 points along with 11 assists and 11 rebounds as L.A. beat Minnesota 99-88.
“Just took what the defense game him, didn’t force it,” Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said about George. “We’ve been talking about playing the right way, the simple way and he did it.”
Now, the Clippers have a shot at winning a season-high fourth straight game. Leonard, thus far, is slated to play tonight even if he’s notorious for sitting out during back-to-back games. The Suns vs Clippers betting Odds are bearish on the Clippers being at full strength as Norman Powell (groin) and Ivica Zubac (knee) are questionable though John Wall (knee) could return.
