The Road Team Can Win In Third Consecutive Game In Knicks-76ers Game 6

Our Knicks vs 76ers Predictions Have New York Making Things Interesting in Philadelphia

It wasn’t expected, but we’re headed to a Game 6 between the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers.

Despite the Knicks being favorites in Game 5, New York coughed up a late lead and allowed the Philadelphia 76ers to tie the game with seconds remaining in regulation. Then, in overtime, the 76ers escaped Madison Square Garden with a win and will now head back to Philadelphia for Game 6 of the series.

The Knicks still lead the series 3-2. They’ll have two more opportunities to land that final win to move on into the second round. Every year, it seems like one or two teams lose the series despite being up 3-1.

It’s certainly in the back of the Knicks’ mind now. After all, the 76ers will be 3-point favorites (-115) in Game 6, meaning the probability is greater than 50% that these two teams be back in Madison Square Garden for a Game 7 winner-take-all.

Meanwhile, the 76ers are -150 on the moneyline, with the total at just 200.

Check out our Knicks vs 76ers predictions for Game 6 of the most exciting Eastern Conference first-round series.

Knicks vs 76ers Odds & Trends

The 76ers defeated the Knicks on the road in Game 5, 112-106 in overtime. This was the first time the 76ers won outright as an underdog and the second time an underdog has won outright in this series.

The Knicks won outright on the road in Game 4.

With that said, the Knicks are still 3-2 in the series. However, the 76ers have gone 3-2 against the spread. Finally, the Over has hit in three of the five games, but the total continues to get lower.

The total was 208.5 in Game 1 but has since dropped to 200 for Game 6.

Bojan Bogdanovic Is Done For The Playoffs

The Knicks have had their fair share of injuries this season. They haven’t even had all-star forward Julius Randle for most of the second half.

But now, more bad news has hit the Knicks. Bojan Bogdanovic will be out for the rest of the playoffs as he’ll undergo surgery on his left foot.

He’ll be re-evaluated in three months, which means he’s done for the playoffs, regardless of how far the Knicks make it.

Bogdanovic was added for this moment. The Knicks brought him in at the NBA Trade Deadline for more depth for their playoff push. But he won’t be available for that playoff push any longer.

Tyrese Maxey Took Advantage Of Bonehead Move By Knicks

The Knicks led the 76ers, 96-90, with 28.9 seconds remaining in the game. All the Knicks had to do was prevent the Sixers from scoring six more points than them in those final 28.9 seconds, and our NBA game predictions would’ve been correct for Game 5.

But we guess it sounds easier said than done.

Philadelphia‘s Tyrese Maxey nailed a three on the wing and was fouled by Mitchell Robinson. That sent Maxey to the foul line for a foul shot, which he nailed.

With the Sixers only down two, the Knicks inbounded the ball to Josh Hart. He got to the foul line but only made one of the two.

Therefore, the 76ers have an opportunity to at least tie the Knicks. With 15.1 seconds to go, the 76ers set it up for Maxey to sprint up the court and take a deep three.

He nailed it and tied the game with seconds remaining.

If the Knicks fouled Maxey coming up the court, the 76ers wouldn’t have been able to tie the game at that moment. Charles Barkley called the Knicks not fouling a “bonehead play.”

The 76ers took advantage of that bonehead play and forced Game 6, which will be played in Philadelphia.

Don’t Count Out The Knicks

It’s always tough to win on the road in the playoffs. However, the Knicks knocked off the 76ers in Game 4, while the 76ers earned a victory over the Knicks in Game 5. Both times, the road team won in stunning fashion.

Over the last two games, the Knicks haven’t looked great offensively. They started the series red-hot, earning a ton of offensive rebounds and just being more aggressive. But in Game 5, for example, the Knicks added just 106 points per 100 possessions, turned the ball over 15% of the time, and earned only 21.3% of offensive rebounds.

These were all the lowest numbers in the series for the Knicks, yet New York had the lead, up six, with less than 30 seconds to go.

On the other hand, the 76ers didn’t see the foul line nearly as much as other games in the series. Philadelphia also added only 28.8% of offensive rebounds and turned the ball over almost 17%.

Ultimately, it’s unlikely the Knicks will play any worse than they did in Game 5. The Knicks added at least 32.6% of offensive rebounds in the two other road games. They also limited turnovers to below 13% in the two road games combined.

The Knicks have played better when everyone gets involved. It’s been the Jalen Brunson show lately, but he’s only shot 28.9% from downtown and 41.9% from the field. While he’s averaged 34.4 points per game, he hasn’t been efficient.

New York will want to adjust and try to play the way they did in the series’ first two games. That included Brunson’s struggles but allowed guys like Josh Hart, Miles McBride, and O.G. Anunoby to contribute offensively. They’ll also want to be more aggressive on the glass and continue to avoid fouls.

In Game 5, they did a good job at limiting Joel Embiid despite his triple-double. The big man only shot 36.8% from the field and had nine turnovers. That’s now two consecutive games for Embiid, shooting 36.8%.

The Knicks seem to have figured out how to defend Embiid. Our best NBA prop bets today wouldn’t include Embiid’s Over in points for Game 6.

We think it’ll all come together in Game 6 for the Knicks. Our Knicks vs 76ers predictions include backing the Knicks +3 (-105) in this critical Game 6 for Thursday.

Remember, this isn’t the only matchup on the NBA game schedule today. The Bucks and Pacers will also play in Game 6 in the earlier matchup before the Knicks-76ers game.
