Veteran Led Contenders Poised for Showdown in Phoenix

Clippers vs Suns Spreads, Props and More

Clippers vs Suns spreads opened at Suns -7 total set at 225. The spread may seem surprising to some, but Kawhi Leonard was recently downgraded to out for Tuesday, allowing the Suns to capitalize at home.

The Clippers will likely keep their spot as the number four seed in the Western NBA bracket for the playoffs, while the Suns currently sit outside of the Play-In Tournament in the sixth seed. The Suns will be playing for much more on Tuesday as they are tied in record with the seventh-seed New Orleans Pelicans, and are only one game ahead of the eighth-seed Sacramento Kings.

Phoenix Gearing Up

The Suns may be clicking at the right time. They are on one of their stronger stretches of the season, and before Sunday’s loss to the Pelicans had won three in a row against strong opponents. In those games against the Timberwolves, Cavaliers, and Pelicans, they won them all by double digits, showing they are locking in in preparation for the postseason.

The scoring of their three stars has been somewhat unpredictable of late, but center Jusuf Nurkic has been showing some interesting statistical patterns. The Bosnian Beast has been chipping in however he can the last few games as his scoring has been inconsistent.

Nurkic has also gone under on his points prop in seven of his last ten games but has gone over on his assists+rebounds prop for four games in a row. He’s taking a step back on offense but doing more of the dirty work, probably exactly what Phoenix needs. Take a look at Nurkic’s points under or assist+rebounds over in Tuesday’s game for some possible value.

Although it likely won’t make much of a difference on Tuesday, the Suns and many NBA fans can rejoice because Isaiah Thomas is back! After a few years in and out of the league it looks like the former Sun will be signing with the team for the rest of the season

Depth Paying Off

The Los Angeles Clippers have won three NBA matchups in a row all without their best player Kawhi Leonard, and two of those wins are against high-seeded NBA playoff teams, the Nuggets and Cavaliers. In the Clipper’s last game, Paul George stepped up big, scoring 39 points in their narrow 120-118 victory over the Cavaliers. Although his performance was no NBA scoring record, his play and game-winner were just enough to propel the Clippers to a win.

James Harden has also been stepping up in Kawhi’s absence. Harden, who had the media asking some questions after back-to-back six-point games, has bounced back well in the Clipper’s last three games, scoring 20 or more in two of the three and dropping 15 assists in the third.

In those three games, Harden has hit the over on his points+rebounds+assists prop in all three. Harden has averaged 18.2 points, nine assists, and 6.2 rebounds in ten games without Kawhi Leonard this season. That means he is averaging over 33 points+rebounds+assists combined in games without Leonard. His line is currently set at 31.5 points+rebounds+assists for Tuesday’s game.

Suns Covering Of Late

Clippers vs Suns spreads currently are at Suns -7 total set at 225.

These NBA teams have already faced off twice this season, the Clippers taking both January matches and covering both as well. At this point of the season the Suns are playing with quite a bit more on the line, and we expect that to be enough to inspire some winning play on Tuesday.

The Suns have been thriving on their home floor the last few games, going 4-1 straight up and against the spread in their last five home games. The Clippers are 1-4 in their last few games on the road and 1-4 against the spread in those games.

The Clippers are 7-3 in their last ten games, but only 3-7 against the spread. The Suns are both 7-3 straight up and against the spread in their last ten. The Suns have gone under six of their last ten games while the Clippers have gone over in seven of their last ten.
