Warriors vs Nuggets is on Monday night game that had to be rescheduled from earlier in the season, and early reports say the Warriors aren’t planning to have their (healthy) leading scorers make the trip.
The Warriors have the second-best record in the NBA, but if we’re being honest, they just haven’t looked the part recently. They’ve dropped five of their last six games as of this writing.
The Warriors’ recent skid isn’t to the fault of Stephen Curry, however, as he’s averaging 26.3 points per game on 49.1 percent shooting during that stretch.
Andrew Wiggins, who somehow earned a spot as a starter in this year’s All-Star Game, has been struggling recently, averaging 13.2 points on 39.5 percent shooting from the field.
Klay Thompson missed two games during this stretch, but he hasn’t looked great\, either, averaging just 14.3 points on 35.1 percent shooting.
Add in the fact that Draymond Green has been out, which puts into perspective how important a player he is. Granted, the Warriors won nine straight games without him not too long ago.
The Denver Nuggets, on the other hand, have been hot, winning six of their last seven games at the time of this writing.
Game by game, Nikola Jokic continues to solidify himself as one of the favorites for the MVP Award, helping the Nuggets to a top-six seed in the Western Conference despite missing both Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. for basically the entire season.
During the Nuggets’ recent stretch, Jokic is averaging 23.1 points, 14.7 rebounds, and eight assists. While his point totals took a slight dip, his efficiency remains high and his other numbers are there, all helping his team night after night.
There have been times when Jokic looked lazy out there on the floor. However, if you’re just so naturally gifted and walk around with a goofy demeanor, you’re bound to be able to get away with being lazy every once in a while.
So, without many Golden State stars unavailable, Denver at home is a solid favorite in here.
