WNBA Betting Preview: Sky vs Storm Odds

Storm and Sky Battle for Season Series

Chicago and Seattle meet for the third and final time during the regular season with each team having won one game. The Sky vs Storm odds has this game priced at Chicago -4.5, which is the largest spread of all three meetings between the two teams. Seattle took the first matchup 74-71 at home, while Chicago won the second matchup 78-74 on their home floor. Let’s take a look at who has the edge tonight.

Game Information

  • Game: Seattle Storm (20-13) vs Chicago Sky (25-8)
  • Location: Wintrust Arena
  • Day/Time:

Chicago has been playing great team basketball as of late. They come into Tuesday’s matchup having won four of their last five games with a win over New York and Washington, and two wins over Connecticut.

Kahleah Copper and Courtney Vandersloot have both been playing exceptionally on the offensive end over that stretch. On the other hand, the Storm has been up and down lately. They have alternated wins and losses over their last seven games and are coming off of a loss to the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday despite being favored in that game.

Vandersloot was sidelined with a concussion the last time these two teams met, yet Chicago was still able to pull out the victory. Having her back, and with the way she’s been playing lately, undoubtedly gives Chicago an even greater advantage this time around.

The Sky have so much depth on their team – arguably the most in the league – with six players averaging double figures, which means the Storm is going to have their work cut out for them defensively for the full 40 minutes.

While Seattle has had the second-best defense throughout the entire season, their performance on that side of the ball has dropped significantly. They own a defensive rating of 104.1, which is tied with Chicago’s over the same time period.

Chicago is going to look to their All-Star Candance Parker who should get fairly easy looks inside being the Sky lead the league in points in the paint while the Storm rank ninth in opponents’ points in the paint. You can also expect both teams to want to get out in transition and push the pace.

Seattle ranks first in fast break points, followed by Chicago in second. This is also the Sky’s last regular season home game, so we expect them to want to try and put on a show for their fans before they hit the road for their next WNBA upcoming games.

In terms of trends to look at when you’re placing a bet on women’s basketball game, Chicago has covered the spread in five of their last seven home games while the Storm has failed to cover in five of their last eight games overall and three of their last five on the road.

With the way Chicago has been playing as of late, coupled with this being their last regular season home game, we like them to cover the Sky vs Storm odds of -4.5. The Sky vs Storm odds for the total in this game sits at 164.5. Despite both the previous matchups between these two teams staying under this total, the fast pace nature that both teams have been playing with as of late should send this one over. Lay the points with Chicago and take the over.
