WNBA Final Betting Odds – Sun vs Sky Betting Preview: Is Sky the Limit for Sun in Chicago?
The Connecticut Sun and Chicago Sky Meet for All the Apples
Sun vs Sky Betting Preview: After a poor performance in Game 3, the Connecticut Sun bounced back in a huge way with a 104-80 win over the Chicago Sky to keep their season alive. The series now goes back to Chicago tied 2-2 with the winner advancing to this year’s WNBA Finals. Let’s take a closer look at the semifinals betting odds.
As soon as that game is over, the WNBA Final Bettings Odds will be released because the Las Vegas Aces already punched their ticket to the finals with a win over the Seattle Storm on Tuesday night. As for the Sun vs Sky betting preview Game 5 odds, Chicago is favored by 4.5-points while the total opened at 161.5.
Game Information
- Game: Connecticut Sun (25-11) at Chicago Sky (26-10)
- Location: Wintrust Arena
- Day/Time: Thursday, 8:00 p.m. ET
Game 4 was all about the Connecticut Sun from start to finish. With their backs against the wall, the Sun set a WNBA playoff record with 66 points in the paint. This comes just one game after they shot just 27.5% in the paint.
The Sun also set a franchise record for points in a playoff game with 104 points in Game 4. Six Connecticut players scored in double-figures led by DeWanna Bonner and Courtney Williams who each had 19 points in what was the Sun’s best offensive performance all season. They were efficient with the basketball and played with pace – something we think we will see more of in Game 5.
With Connecticut’s offense rolling, our play for this game is on the over 161.5. This was the first game that we saw the over hit, yet it was on pace to hit in Games 2 and 3 too. The spread on this game is Chicago -4.5 which suggests that the Sky is going to win this game.
If that’s the case, it will be because they are able to dictate the pace of this game. Chicago likes to play fast and get up and down the floor. A faster pace typically leads to more points.
On the other hand, Connecticut likes to slow the game down and make it “messy” as head coach Curt Miller has said in recent interviews. However, with this WNBA point spread favoring Chicago, and the Sky have home-court advantage, we see Candace Parker and company forcing Connecticut to play this game at their pace.
Let’s conclude our Sun vs Sky betting preview
The WNBA standings altered Vegas numbers when the Sky and Sun played four times during the regular season and in those games averaged a total of 177 points. After a slow start to this playoff series, we’re finally seeing the totals creep up closer to this number. Now, 161.5 is still well under 177, but we still don’t think the Sky team has played up to their potential on offense. Allie Quigley has had a down series and Kahleah Copper has yet to put up the type of numbers we are used to seeing from her.
Now, the Sun did shoot nearly 57% from the field in Game 4, which likely won’t happen again. But, while we might see a little bit of offensive regression from Connecticut in Game 5, we think we’ll also see a bit of positive regression from Chicago, pushing this total over 161.5.
WNBA Championship Odds
The Las Vegas Ace punched their ticket to the WNBA playoffs with a 97-92 win over the Seattle Storm on Tuesday, ending the career of the legendary Sue Bird. While the WNBA Final Betting Odds have yet to be released, we think that Las Vegas will be the favorite regardless of who their opponent ends up being.
Chicago would likely be the tougher matchup for the Aces than Connecticut would be, lending to a shorter series price for Las Vegas. That being said, A’ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, and company beat the Sky pretty handily in their previous two meetings. Depending on the series’ opening price, it may make sense to wait and see if Las Vegas drops Game 1 of the finals before betting on them as this would likely give you a better number for the Aces WNBA championship odds.
