WNBA Final Odds: Sun vs Aces Game 1
The Connecticut Sun and Las Vegas Aces meet in the WNBA Finals
WNBA Final Odds: The Connecticut Sun and Las Vegas Aces are set to meet in the 2022 WNBA Finals beginning on Sunday, September 11, in Sin City. The Aces punched their ticket by way of knocking out Sue Bird and the Seattle Storm three games to one, while the Sun put up an outstanding performance in a decisive Game 5 against the Chicago Sky.
In that game, the Sun outscored Chicago 22-2 in the final 7:20 of play to earn the 72-63 victory over the defending champs. Now they hope to bring that momentum into Sunday’s contest against the best offense in the league. The WNBA Finals odds are in favor of Las Vegas with the series price at Aces -260 and the Sun at +210 to win the title. In Game 1, the WNBA point spreads make the Aces a six-point favorite with the total set at 169.5.
Game Information

The Las Vegas Aces have been the Championship favorite for the majority of the season, and for good reason. They have the most high-powered offense in the league with A’ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, and Kelsey Plum. So, when it comes to WNBA sports betting and the WNBA Final odds, we think laying the six points with the Aces in Game 1 is the right play.
Las Vegas wrapped up their series with the Storm on Tuesday, which means they will be coming into Sunday’s game with four full days of rest and preparation. In comparison, the Sun will only have two days in between the end of their series with Chicago and the start of the finals.
The Aces are also a team that wants to get up and down the floor and push the pace of the game as much as possible. This is a stark contrast to how the Sun likes to play. Connecticut wants to slow the game down and make it as messy as possible. They want to play grind-it-out basketball and make their opponents work on the defensive end. Therefore, whichever team is able to dictate the pace and play their style of basketball in the game is likely to be the team that comes out on top.
In the first contest, the WNBA final odds suggest that the Aces will be the ones to control the game and we agree based on the rest spot that they are in. They also lost their first game on their home floor to the Storm in the semifinals series, so they should be focused on not repeating that mistake and making sure they come out in this game ready to play.
In the previous three meetings between these two teams during the regular season, the Aces took the series 2-1. Las Vegas won Games one and three, each by eight points, while the Sun won Game two by seven.
The total for all three games finished relatively high with the final scores being 170, 187, and 174 respectively. This once again tells us that Las Vegas is likely to be the team to dictate the pace of this game and force the Sun to play the way that they want to.
In terms of personnel, we also think the Aces have the advantage. They have the Coach of the Year in Becky Hammon, the league MVP and Defensive Play of the Year in A’ja Wilson, and the Most Improved Player in Jackie Young.
Overall this is an Aces team that has been ready for this moment all season long and they’re the team that we would bet on to not only win and cover in Game 1 but to also win the 2022 WNBA Championship.
