Wings vs Liberty WNBA Picks, Odds, and More

We are back into the full swing of the WNBA season. The Liberty have been dominant all season, and the Summer Olympic break doesn’t seem to have slowed them down. The Wings, on the other hand, have struggled to find their rhythm with their WNBA games today. This discrepancy in play is shown in the odds and our Wings vs Liberty WNBA Picks.

The New York Liberty are 14.5-point favorites at home for Tuesday’s game. They are also -1500 to win straight up, while the Dallas Wings are +790 to pull off the upset. The total for the game is set at 175.5.

The Liberty are now +120 favorites to win the WNBA championship, so the deck’s clearly stacked against the Wings.

New York Excellence

The New York Liberty are in midst of a terrific season. They are 23-4, owners of the WNBA’s best record.

They are on a six-game winning streak that includes emphatic wins over a pair of fellow title contenders in Connecticut and Las Vegas. The Liberty are led by their three stars, Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones and Sabrina Ionescu.

Stewart is averaging 19.6 points and 8.7 rebounds this season, all while leading the team in blocks and steals. Jones leads the team in rebounds with 9.2 per game and is also averaging 14.9 points per game. Ionescu leads the team in points (19.9) and assists (6.0) per game.

In Saturday’s 79-67 win against the Aces, the Liberty dominated. The game featured multiple WNBA MVPs, including the favorite A’ja Wilson for the Aces. The Liberty showcased their incredible defense, holding the Aces to just 36.9% shooting. The Liberty also outrebounded the Aces 45-35.

Ionescu led the Liberty with 23 points, six rebounds, and three assists, while Stewart contributed 18 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. Jones added 10 points, 17 rebounds, and seven assists. Wilson led the Aces with 20 points and eight rebounds.

The Liberty’s defensive intensity held the Aces to just 39 points in the final three quarters, showcasing why they are favored to win it all this season. With this win, the Liberty clinched a playoff spot, and extended their lead over the Sun for the top overall seed.

Wings Can’t Fly

The Dallas Wings are one of the worst teams in the WNBA. Despite having the league’s third-leading scorer in Arike Ogunbowale, they’ve consistently come up short. They are 6-20, tied with two others for the fewest wins in the league.

Outside of Ogunbowale, who also leads the team in assists and steals, Dallas is led in rebounds by Teaira McCowan with 7.3 per game. McCowan also leads the team in block rate (1.0).

The Wings were beaten 109-91 by Connecticut in their first game following the Olympic break. DeWanna Bonner led the Sun with 29 points, while Marina Mabrey added 17 in her debut. Alyssa Thomas contributed 12 points, 14 assists, and eight rebounds.

Satou Sabally scored 20 points in her season debut for Dallas, but the Wings struggled to keep pace. The Sun shot 57.6% from the field and made 11 3-pointers. With this victory, the Sun improved to 19-6 and solidified their position as a top contender in the WNBA.

With the return of Sabally, who missed the first 25 games this season with a shoulder injury, things could be looking up for the Wings. That being said, even making the playoffs will be an uphill battle considering their place in the standings. Dallas began the week 4.5 games behind Chicago for the final playoff spot.

Betting Trends

These teams are on the opposite end of the straight up betting trends. It’s no wonder the Liberty -are favored by more than 14 points at home, where they are 12-2.

The Liberty have been a bit of a liability for bettors, going 4-10 against the spread on their home floor this season and 14-14 ATS overall. They are 5-0 straight up and ATS  in their last five games, and the under has hit in six of their last nine games.

The Wings, meanwhile, are 6-20 straight up this year and 2-12 on the road. They are 8-18 ATS on the season and 4-9 ATS on the road. They are only 1-8 ATS in their last nine games and the total has gone over in six of their last seven games.

Take the Liberty to win for your Wings vs Liberty WNBA Picks. We believe they have a good chance of covering as well.
