ACC Basketball Betting Odds: Virginia Favored at Syracuse

ACC Rivals Duke, North Carolina Battle on Saturday

The Atlantic Coast Conference is offering up a solid week of basketball, winding-up with North Carolina at Duke. But there are plenty of other decent games on tap, including a battle of ranked teams in Clemson and Miami on Saturday. The week starts with an interesting game between Virginia and Syracuse on Monday night.

Monday, Jan. 30

UVA Virginia Cavaliers vs Syracuse Orangemen SYR

Date, Time & Streaming: Monday, Jan. 30, 7 p.m. ET
Location: JMA Wireless Dome (Syracuse, N.Y.)
Streaming: ESPN

The ACC basketball betting odds show Virginia (16-3) as 5-point favorites on the road against Syracuse (13-9) with a total of 132.5. Both teams can hit the 3-pointer and neither defends it particularly well. It’s a matter of how many possessions you’re going to get whenever the Cavaliers are involved. It’s not that Virginia is a bad offensive team. They’re not, ranking No. 18 in adjusted offensive efficiency, but also No. 339 in pace. The Orangemen are No. 102 in pace, but force teams to take more than 18 seconds per possession. The over is tempting but takes a little bit of nerve here.

Tuesday, Jan. 31

WAKE Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs Duke Blue Devils DUKE

Date, Time & Streaming: Tuesday, Jan. 31, 7 p.m. ET
Location: Cameron Indoor Stadium (Durham, N.C.)
Streaming: ESPN

The Blue Devils (15-6) will be favored by close to 8.5 points here with a total near 147.5. Wake Forest (14-8) can score and is an excellent shooting team, ranking in the top 50 in both 2- and 3-pointers. The Demon Deacons’ problem is defense, or rather lack of. Wake Forest allows teams to shoot 35% from 3-point range and 51.3% from 2-point range, which isn’t going to win many games. The Blue Devils can play defense, ranking No. 37 in adjusted efficiency. The Blue Devils aren’t a great shooting team, but are No. 1 in the nation in offensive rebounds, giving themselves plenty of second chances. Another game where you can fault anybody who likes the over.

Wednesday, Feb. 1

PITT Pittsburgh Panthers vs North Carolina Tar Heels UNC

Date, Time & Streaming: Wednesday, Feb. 1, 7 p.m. ET
Location: Dean E. Smith Center (Chapel Hill, N.C.)
Streaming: ACC Network

The NCAAB odds will have North Carolina (15-6) as roughly a 7-point favorite over Pitt (15-7) with a total near 146.5. The Tar Heels are better offensively and defensively, although not by a huge margin. The Panthers won the first meeting between the two teams, 76-74, so a revenge game for North Carolina. But the number is a little bit on the high side if Pitt plays the way its capable of. North Carolina doesn’t shoot the 3-pointer very well, which could help Pittsburgh hang around in this one. North Carolina does have Duke on deck but after losing to the Panthers earlier should have the Tar Heels focused.

Saturday, Feb. 4

UVA Virginia Cavaliers vs Virginia Tech Hokies VT

Date, Time & Streaming: Saturday, Feb. 4, noon ET
Location: Cassell Coliseum (Blacksburg, Virginia)
Streaming: ESPN2

The college basketball point spreads will have this one pretty close to even, with the Cavaliers likely to be a 1- or 2-point favorite. The total will be near 130. Virginia won the first meeting 78-68 in a higher-scoring game than you’d expect with these two teams. The Hokies typically play a little better defense than they did. Virginia Tech can shoot the ball well, especially from 2-point range, where it’s No. 42 in the country at 54.2%. The Hokies may be a little more willing to slow things down in this one, so the under is worth a look.

FSU Florida State Seminoles vs Louisville Cardinals LOU

Date, Time & Streaming: Saturday, Feb. 4, 2 p.m. ET
Location: KFC Yum! Center (Louisville, Kentucky)
Streaming: ESPN2

The ACC basketball betting odds will have Florida State favored by about 6 points with a total near 146. The Seminoles aren’t what they have been in recent years, but they’re still better than Louisville. The Cardinals‘ fall from the upper tier of college basketball teams has been quick. Louisville has just a pair of wins over Western Kentucky and Florida A&M to its credit this year. There really isn’t one thing Louisville does well on the basketball court. FSU won by 22 at home earlier this year and there’s no reason why it shouldn’t win this one by double digits.

MIA Miami Hurricanes vs Clemson Tigers CLEM

Date, Time & Streaming: Saturday, Feb. 4, 3 p.m. ET
Location: Littlejohn Coliseum (Clemson, S.C.)
Streaming: ACC Network

A good game here, as the Hurricanes visit Clemson and the Tigers should be the slightest of favorites. Clemson is ranked No. 24 but there probably aren’t many people who believe the Tigers are one of the best 25 teams in the country. Miami’s offense is its strength, while the Tigers are a little better defensively. The Tigers aren’t a bad shooting team but are well down the list when it comes to offensive rebounds, which hurts their efficiency rating a little bit. The Tigers are worth a look here provided the line is Clemson -2 or less.

UNC North Carolina Tar Heels vs Duke Blue Devils DUKE

Date, Time & Streaming: Saturday, Feb. 4, 6:30 p.m. ET
Location: Cameron Indoor Stadium (Durham, N.C.)
Streaming: ESPN

The ACC basketball betting odds will have Duke close to 4-point favorites over the Tar Heels with a total near 145. While this may not be a battle between a pair of top 10 teams as has been the case in previous years, it’s still a game worth watching. Both squads struggle from 3-point range but UNC is a better shooting team from 2-point range. The key here will be Duke’s offensive rebounding against the Tar Heels, who are one of the best at preventing offensive rebounds. If the Tar Heels win the battle on the glass, they have a solid chance to pull off the victory.
