Richmond vs St Bonaventure Jockeying for Position in Atlantic 10

The game between Richmond vs St. Bonaventure is happening at the Reilly Center In  Olean, N.Y., Friday night.  Right now, St. Bonaventure (11-5)  sits in fourth place in the Atlantic 10, while Richmond (10-7) is in sixth. They are separated by Saint Louis at 10-6

This game carries a lot of weight for seeding in the conference tournament. In last year’s tournament, St. Bonaventure win the championship game, 74-65, over VCU. Richmond has not won in 11 years, its 2011 victory (67-54) against Dayton.

One of the biggest reasons why this Richmond vs St. Bonaventure game is important is because it’s the last conference game for both teams.

Richmond’s last game was a heartbreaking loss to Dayton on an inbounds-pass, last-second dunk. The team is led by Tyler Burton’s 16.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

St. Bonaventure was blown out, 74-51, against VCU.  The Bonnies will definitely look to bounce back with a better performance, both offensively and defensively. Scoring just 51 points isn’t going to win many games. The Bonnies are led by Jalen Adaway’s 15.8 points per game. Another player to watch is forward Osun Osunniyi (11.2 ppg, 7.6 rpg). St. Bonaventure will need both to play well to pull out a victory.

As far as a selection in this game, it is a close one. Both teams have similar records to go with a similar strength of schedule, similar stats and somewhat similar style. They both also come off losing efforts. Look to the Bonnies to make the necessary adjustments after the VCU loss and pull out a hard-fought victory.
