SEC Basketball Games Odds and Predictions: Two Strong Days of Action

Tennessee Small Favorites Over No. 1 Alabama

The SEC basketball games odds and predictions have two strong days of action, beginning with a battle of top 10 teams Wednesday. There’s a full slate of games on Saturday, with a number of interesting matchups. It’s one of the better SEC schedules so far this season, although all eyes will be on Tennessee Wednesday evening.

Wednesday, Feb. 15

MISS Mississippi Rebels vs Florida Gators FLA

Date & Time:
Location: Exactech Arena (Gainesville, Florida)
Streaming: SEC Network

The SEC basketball games odds and predictions begin with Ole Miss (10-15) visiting Florida (13-12). The college basketball point spread has Florida -9.5 and the total on the game is 137.5. Neither the Rebels or the Gators are anything special on offense. But Florida has a big edge defensively, ranking No. 13 in adjusted efficiency. The Rebels are No. 91. The Gators are looking to end a three-game slide and will rely on the defense to get the job done. The Gators can’t be counted on to score a lot of points, even against Mississippi. The under 137.5 should get some consideration for your NCAAB picks and parlays.

ALA Alabama Crimson Tide vs Tennessee Volunteers TENN

Date & Time:
Location: Thompson Boling Arena (Knoxville, Tennessee)
Streaming: ESPN2

It’s not often you see the No. 1 team in the country as an underdog, but that’s the case here. No. 10 Tennessee (19-6) is favored by 2.5 over Alabama (22-3) and the total is 143.5. This game should live up to advance billing, as both are solid on defense, while the Tide gets a bit of an edge on offense. The Vols have the best defense in the nation but Alabama isn’t far behind. The Tide allow lower shooting percentages but don’t force many turnovers. That’s the primary reason Tennessee is rated a little higher on defense. Both teams more than 32% of their points from 3-point range but the teams rank 1-2 in defensive 3-point field goal percentage. There’s some value with a the under 143.5.

UK Kentucky Wildcats vs Mississippi State Bulldogs MSST

Date & Time:
Location: Humphrey Coliseum (Starkville, Miss.)
Streaming: SEC Network

Mississippi State (17-8) is favored by 2.5 over Kentucky (16-9) with a total of 128. The Bulldogs are a horrible shooting team but are solid on defense. The Wildcats are better offensively than they are on defense. Getting second chances on the offensive boards will be the key for Kentucky in this one. The Bulldogs have to hit some shots, something that is easier said than done for Mississippi State at times. But the total is a bit low for an under play.

Saturday, Feb. 18

TENN Tennessee Volunteers vs Kentucky Wildcats UK

Date & Time:
Location: Rupp Arena (Lexington, Kentucky)
Streaming: CBS

The SEC basketball games odds and predictions have Tennessee traveling to face the Kentucky Wildcats to begin Saturday’s games. The Vols will be close to 4-point favorites and the total will be close to 135. The Wildcats have struggled at times this season but are still a dangerous home underdog. These are two of the top six offensive rebounding teams in the country and that could be the deciding factor in the game. If Tennessee knocks off Alabama on Tuesday, the Wildcats should be given a look.

FLA Florida Gators vs Arkansas Razorbacks ARK

Date & Time:
Location: Bud Walton Arena (Fayetteville, Arkansas)
Streaming: ESPN2

The Arkansas Razorbacks should be favored by about 6.5 points with a total near 138.5 in this spot. The two defenses are pretty even but Arkansas is a better offensive team. The Razorbacks are horrible shooting the 3-pointer and the Gators are No. 10 in 2-point field goal percentage defensively. That could allow the Gators to hang around a little longer than they should. Florida struggles a bit defending the 3-pointer but Arkansas ranks No. 360 in the nation in points scored by 3-pointers. If the total is 137 or higher, the under offers the best value in this spot.

TAM Texas A&M Aggies vs Missouri Tigers MIZZ

Date & Time:
Location: Mizzou Arena (Columbia, Missouri)
Streaming: ESPN2

The SEC basketball games odds and predictions will have Missouri favored by a couple of points, with the total pretty close to 160. It’s no surprise the total is going to be so high, as Texas A&M ranks No. 19 in adjusted offensive efficiency and Missouri is No. 4. The Aggies are No. 69 on defense, while the Tigers are No. 216. This is a big revenge game for the Tigers, who were thumped 82-64 at Texas A&M earlier this season. Missouri was just 7-of-31 from 3-point range and was out-rebounded 42-25 in the contest. The Tigers are normally a solid 3-point shooting team and defending the 3-pointer is the weak link for the Aggies. If the number comes out at 161 or lower, the over is worth a look.

UGA Georgia Bulldogs vs Alabama Crimson Tide ALA

Date & Time:
Location: Coleman Coliseum (Tuscaloosa, Alabama)
Streaming: SEC Network

Alabama is going to be a huge favorite here, with the line close to Alabama -18 and a total near 150. The Crimson Tide have all of the stats in its favor but it’s hard to lay such a steep number with an Alabama team ripe for a letdown. Alabama is coming off games against Florida, Auburn and Tennessee and now faces one of the worst teams in the conference. Still, Georgia isn’t all that bad and has a few nice conference wins this season. If the Bulldogs are getting 18 or more points, Georgia is worth a shot.
