Shooting Guard

It’s been an incredible five seasons in college basketball for Baylor Scheierman.
The senior guard has accumulated over 2,000 points with three seasons at South Dakota State and two seasons at Creighton.
But he hasn’t won a National Championship. He and Creighton came somewhat close last season but didn’t finish the job.
This year, Scheierman and the Creighton Bluejays had high expectations to go far in the NCAA Tournament. They’ve answered those expectations as Creighton is currently the No. 10 team in the nation and 22-8 on the season. In Big East play, the Bluejays have gone 13-6, which is the third-best record in the conference.
In the Big East standings, the Bluejays recently inched closer to the Marquette Golden Eagles after Saturday’s home win against Marquette. Creighton dominated in the win, although Marquette’s best player, Tyler Kolek, didn’t play due to an NCAAB injury.
With Kolek on the sideline, Baylor Scheierman stepped up, leading the Bluejays with 26 points and 16 rebounds in the win. He played all but two minutes and nailed six three-pointers on 12 attempts.
This isn’t out of the ordinary for Scheierman, either. He’s added many double-doubles this college basketball season, averaging 18.5 points and 8.9 rebounds per game this season.
If Creighton wants to make a run in the NCAA Tournament this season, they’ll need Scheierman to continue his dominant play.
Scheierman’s Time At South Dakota
Baylor Scheierman elected to attend South Dakota State for the first three seasons of his college basketball career.
He played in just 32 games in his freshman season and started only three. In about 20 minutes a game, Scheierman shot 42.7% from the field and hit only 24.7% from downtown.
But things changed in his sophomore season. He started all 23 games for the Jack Rabbits and shot 49.8% from the field to score 15.4 points. This was when Scheierman began to become a star. Other college basketball teams took notice.
By his junior season, Scheierman still improved, scoring 16.2 points per game. His rebounding dropped slightly from 9.2 to 7.8 in his sophomore season. But overall, he shot nearly 47% from three on more than five attempts per game in that junior season.
After another impressive season at South Dakota State, Scheierman took his talents to Creighton for his final two years of eligibility.
Adapting To Creighton
Scheierman didn’t see the same results as his time at South Dakota State. But in his fourth season of college basketball and first with Creighton, he added 12.8 points per game and shot 42.4% from the field.
It took him some time to adapt to the high-major game, but eventually, he found his shot.
This season, he’s added 18.5 points per game to lead the team in scoring. He’s also hit 86% from the foul line and has shot 37.7% from three with 8.9 rebounds.
At Creighton, he got to more than 2,000 points and more than 1,200 rebounds in his career.

The Big East’s Player Of The Week
Baylor Scheierman helped Creighton to a double-digit win against Seton Hall of Wednesday, where he scored 20 points with 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals in an 85-64 win at home.
Then he had his performance against Marquette that helped him earn the Big East Player of the Week honors.
He became the first Power 6 player with a game of 16 rebounds and six three-pointers since Marquette’s Steve Novak in January of 2026. He also became the first Power 6 player since Kevin Durant in 2007 with at least 25 rebounds and ten three-pointers.
Beyond that, Scheierman became the first Creighton player to drain six three-pointers in consecutive college basketball games.
Scheierman is in good company. Novak had a long career in the NBA, and Kevin Durant is considered one of the best players the game has ever seen.
That bodes well for his future.
As for the Bluejays, Creighton’s odds to win the March Madness are at +3000. However, they were also +3000 with the preseason odds.
The Bluejays have gone 5-4 in Quad 1 games and have also gone 4-3 in Quad 2 games. Having winning records in both quads is massive for seeding purposes for the NCAA Tournament.
Still, Scheierman and Creighton have one more game against Villanova before the Big East Tournament. The Bluejays will have their eyes set on the Big East Championship before shifting focus to the NCAA Tournament. Getting by UConn will be difficult, but Creighton still has enough pieces to make a run at both championships.
When Creighton visits Villanova, take a look at the players prop bets for Scheierman. You’ll probably want to bet the Over on most of his props, as he’s one of the best college basketball players in the nation.
