Wyoming Is Looking For A Home-Court Advantage Against Utah State

There's Only One Bet To Take With These Utah State vs Wyoming Odds

The Utah State Aggies will hit the road to take on the Wyoming Cowboys in tonight’s Mountain West Conference matchup.

The Aggies just added their 20th win of the season on Saturday. It came against Boise State at home, 80-61.

Utah State needed that win after falling to San Diego State and Nevada in back-to-back games before knocking off Boise State.

The Aggies are now 20-4 on the year and 8-3 in conference play. They already defeated Wyoming, 83-59 at home. But now they’ll be on the road in this one.

The spread is currently at -6.5 (-120) for the Aggies, with the total sitting at 151.5. In the total, the Over is juiced to -115.

Take a look at tonight’s Utah State vs Wyoming odds to see if Utah State can cover against a Wyoming team looking to avoid falling to .500.

Utah State vs Wyoming Odds & Trends

The Utah State Aggies are just 5-3 on the road this season. Despite being 20-4 straight up, they’re also just 12-9-1 against the spread.

That’s still a profitable record for Utah State bettors, but not nearly as good as their straight-up record.

Utah State has hit the Over in 13 of 22 games this season.

On the other hand, Wyoming is 8-2 at home. Most of the Cowboys’ losses are coming on the road, where they’re 1-8. Wyoming is still just 8-13 against the spread but has hit the Over in 12 of 21 games this year.

Utah State dominated Wyoming earlier this season and has won three straight games over the Cowboys as favorites of six points or more.

Utah State Dropped Out Of AP Poll

If you’re not a Power-Five school, any loss will blow your chances of staying at the top of the AP Poll.

Utah State had a five-week run in the AP Poll. But the moment it lost two straight games, the Aggies watched themselves drop out of the Poll.

At 20-4 on the season, Utah State is still a potential top-25 team. They’re not 26th in the nation, thanks to the home win against Boise State.

Meanwhile, teams like Wisconsin, who lost four straight games, were strictly in the Top 25 because they’re in the Big Ten. Wisconsin lost games to some of the worst teams in the Big Ten, but that didn’t matter.

With a win over Wyoming and on Saturday against Colorado State, Utah State will likely be back in the Top 25. As long as the Aggies get back to winning, they’ll be back in the Poll.

Wyoming’s Home Attendance Isn’t Good

Wyoming isn’t having the best of seasons this year.

They’re sitting at 12-11 on the year and are in danger of falling to .500 mid-way through February. However, the Cowboys are 8-2 at home and typically give a good effort on their home floor.

Head coach Jeff Linder called out the Wyoming fans for not attending the games enough.

Wyoming most recently lost to New Mexico, 91-73, at home, to fall to 12-11 on the season and 5-5 in conference play. After the game, Linder went to the media and voiced his frustration with attendance.

Against New Mexico, Wyoming saw 3,685 fans. However, the venue’s capacity is more than 11,600.

The Mountain West Conference is really tight. Wyoming is only 2.5 games out of first place but also sitting at 8th in the conference’s college basketball standings. It’s a wide-open league, and Linder wants the fans to buy in to give his team a legitimate home-court advantage. We’ll see if he reached the fanbase for tonight’s game.

Wyoming Won’t Get Stops

It’s been like this all year.

The Wyoming Cowboys can’t get stops.

The Cowboys have allowed a 52.7% effective field goal percentage and have given up 33.4% from three. Furthermore, Wyoming has allowed teams to shoot 54.3% from inside the arc and has allowed 30.3% of offensive rebounds.

Wyoming also doesn’t earn many turnovers, adding just 15.8% per game this season. This defense doesn’t earn many blocked shots and rarely gets steals that can turn into fastbreaks the other way.

Meanwhile, Utah State has shot 30.8% from deep. However, they’ve hit 57.4% from inside the arc. The Aggies don’t even take three-pointers that often. They live inside the arc, ranking 11th in the nation in two-point percentage.

The Aggies have also snagged 30.1% of offensive rebounds and typically limit turnovers at a solid rate. Utah State might not see the foul line as much against Wyoming, but that’s really the only area of concern for Utah State.

On the other hand, Wyoming turns the ball over nearly 20% of the time. They’ve shot the ball from three well, hitting 35.8% from downtown. However, Utah State has limited teams to 28.8% from three this season. The Aggies will force Wyoming to shoot inside the arc, where the Cowboys have hit just 48.5%.

Again, Wyoming will win the foul-shooting battle. They’ve also hit 76.1% from the line, which is a great number. But second chances won’t come around often for Wyoming, as Utah State has limited teams to 24.3% of offensive rebounds per game this season.

The Cowboys struggled badly against Utah State in the first meeting. Looking at the college basketball stats, nothing will change in this one.

After reviewing the Utah State vs Wyoming odds, we’ll back the Aggies at -6.5 (-120). These are good NCAA basketball odds for the Aggies in their quest for their 21st win of the season.
