Top Recruit Uiagalelei Could Impact Florida State Seminoles Stats
Florida State Seminoles Eye A Second Straight ACC Title in 2024
Despite being just sixth in the ACC in total offense last college football season, the Seminoles averaged more points per game than any other ACC team while finishing second in scoring defense. Will it be more of the same in the 2024 Florida State Seminoles stats?
Florida State was the only ACC team to finish undefeated at home. The Seminoles were 3-3 against the spread as a home favorite. Florida State finished 5-4 ATS in ACC play.
Four of the six home games for the Seminoles landed over the total while four of the six matchups as a home favorite also finished over. Keep an eye on the college football playoff odds as Florida State looks to make a run at the CFP in 2024.

Former Crimson Tide Players Head to Tallahassee
Florida State will have a familiar name as starting quarterback as DJ Uiagalelei, who began his collegiate career at ACC rival Clemson; is part of the top-ranked group of incoming transfers in the ACC.
It will be interesting to check out the 2024 Florida State Seminoles stats to see how Uiagelelei does for the Seminoles. The matchup against Clemson is sure to attract plenty of attention.
The Seminoles saw their bid for a perfect season end with a bowl loss to SEC powerhouse Georgia. In an attempt to take the next step, Florida State added nine players from the SEC.
Receiver Malik Benson (13 catches), linebacker Shawn Murphy, running back Roydell Williams (560 rushing yards in 2023), cornerback Earl Little, and offensive lineman TJ Ferguson all came in from Alabama.
Georgia edge rusher Marvin Jones, LSU receiver Jalen Brown, Auburn linebacker Cam Riley, and Florida offensive lineman Richie Leonard are other former SEC recruits joining the Seminoles.
Edge rusher Patrick Payton and offensive linemen Maurice Smith and Darius Washington are among the top returning players for the Seminoles.
Championship Odds: What’s Next for FSU After Playoff Snub?
An undefeated regular season followed by a win in the ACC wasn’t enough to get Florida State into the College Football Playoffs. That won’t be an issue now that the CFP field has expanded from four to 12 teams.
There are some holes to fill with 10 college football players selected in the 2024 NFL Draft with edge rusher Jared Verse and receiver Keon Coleman going in the top 33 picks.
However, FSU shouldn’t have many issues in the early non-conference matchup with Memphis or the clash with Charleston Southern before ending the regular season with a home game against Florida.
FSU could be favored in every game during the regular season after being the betting favorite in 11 consecutive games a season ago.
Will that be enough to compete with the best NCAAF teams in the SEC and the Big Ten if Florida State makes it into the CFP field for the first time since falling in the semifinals in the first CFP following the 2014 season?
Conference Odds: Cougars Look to Avoid the Cellar
The college football lines lists Florida State as a 13-point favorite against Georgia Tech in the season opener in Dublin. Matchups with Boston College and ACC newcomer Cal are also early in the season before things could get interesting with back-to-back matchups with SMU and Clemson.
Once again, the teams with the shortest odds of winning the ACC title meet pretty early on with Florida State a four-point favorite against visiting Clemson.
After a pair of close calls against Boston College and Clemson, the Seminoles didn’t face much drama before the annual clash with Miami. The meeting with the Hurricanes will be on the road this season followed two weeks later with what could be a rugged road test against Notre Dame on national television.
Regular Season Wins: Three Games Could Determine Seminoles’ Fate
It has been eight years since Florida State has posted three consecutive double-digit win seasons. That could happen this season.
The key for the Seminoles could be the NCAA football matchups with Clemson, Notre Dame, and Miami. Barring upsets in the other games, Florida State would only need to win one of those games to go over the 9.5 regular-season win projection. That is one of the 2024 Florida State Seminoles stats worth monitoring this season.
To Make Playoffs: Some Unfinished Business for FSU
There was just a little bit of talk about Florida State being left out of the College Football Playoff field. While the move to expand the CFP field was not a direct result of what happened to Florida State, the timing is close to perfect.
If FSU wins the ACC title in 2024, the Seminoles will almost certainly be in the playoffs.
Florida State brought in a class of incoming transfers ranked seventh according to the 247sports.com database. The recruiting class was ranked 12th, one spot behind Clemson.
Will cornerbacks Charles Lester and Jamari Howard make immediate impacts as freshmen? The wait could be longer for quarterback recruit Luke Kromenhoek to hit the field.
Side Bets
DJ Uiagalelei was vying with Bryce Young to be the top-rated quarterback out of California coming out of high school. Young is going into his second NFL season while Uiagalelei is set to play for his third college team in the last three years.
He could be a popular choice in the college football picks both as a runner and a passer at Florida State.
He completed just 57% of his passes in 12 games with 2638 yards to go with 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also ran for six touchdowns. Those numbers do not scream “Heisman Trophy candidate.” However, he is priced at +3000 to win the Heisman.
Keep an eye on the 54.5-point total in the season opener against Georgia Tech and the 51-point total versus Boston College in a Monday night affair airing on ESPN.
