2024 NCAAF Cheat Sheet: Ohio State Buckeyes Stats & Odds
Will The 2024 Ohio State Stats Include An Appearance In the National Title Game?

Is This The Year that the Buckeyes Are the Last Team Standing?
Ohio State has looked like a member of the “Not Ready for Prime Time Players” in recent years with plenty of impressive wins but struggles to beat the elite teams, leaving the Buckeyes looking for more. Ohio State is the betting favorite in the Big Ten heading into the season and looks to make some noise in the College Football Playoffs.
When looking at the potential 2024 Ohio State Buckeyes stats, Ohio State was just 2-3-1 against the spread on the road last season, and that included a 2-2-1 mark as a road favorite. Ohio State had a 1-2-1 ATS mark in non-conference games.
Ohio State has been listed as an underdog just twice since the start of the 2021 season and lost both of those games.
Only three Ohio State games finished over the total a season ago, and only Iowa had fewer games that went under the total among the Big Ten teams. Just one of the six home games went over the total.

Quarterback Questions Aren’t Enough to Derail the Buckeyes
Ohio State went with quality over quantity when working the transfer portal.
Former Alabama safety Caleb Downs is the top-rated transfer in the 247sports.com database with Alabama quarterback Julian Sayin, Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins, and Kansas State quarterback Will Howard as other top incoming transfers.
The Buckeyes only signed seven transfers but three of them were in the top 10 in the transfer rankings. They could figure prominently in the 2024 Ohio State Buckeyes stats.
With last year’s starting quarterback Kyle McCord now at Syracuse, Sayin and Howard are fighting it out with 2023 backup Devin Brown for the starting job.
The group of receivers will look much different with All-American Marvin Harrison Jr. and tight end Cade Stover now in the NFL while Julian Fleming transferred to Penn State. Emeka Egbuka figures to put up huge numbers as he did two seasons ago.
With Judkins joining TreVeyon Henderson, the Buckeyes could have the top 1-2 running back tandem in the country. Another key addition was former Oregon and UCLA head coach Chip Kelly being brought in as the offensive coordinator.

Even with the top two tacklers from the 2023 team in the NFL, Ohio State could have an elite defense.
Championship Odds: Buckeyes Putting Pressure on Georgia
With each odds update, Ohio State continues to narrow the gap on Georgia when it comes to the odds of winning the national title.
Ohio State doesn’t figure to be tested in non-conference play with matchups against Akron, Western Michigan, and Marshall. The first two conference games come against Michigan State and Iowa so the 2024 Ohio State Buckeyes stats could see the Buckeyes at 5-0 heading into a huge road test against Oregon.
The Penn State and Michigan games are annually among the most challenging matchups for the Buckeyes and this year it should be no different.
It remains to be seen if Ohio State will finish the regular season undefeated as Big Ten rival Michigan did a season ago, but the Buckeyes should be a top contender to win the national title from the first day of the 2024 season.

Conference Odds: Can the Buckeyes Tame the Wolverines?
Ohio State has been undefeated heading into the regular-season finale against Michigan in each of the last two seasons only to lose both games. The 2021 and 2022 defeats at the hands of the Wolverines were pretty humbling but the Buckeyes were right there with Michigan in last year’s game.
Ohio State outgained Michigan in the 2023 game but a pair of turnovers were the difference as Michigan came away with a six-point win as a three-point favorite.
This year’s game is at Ohio State and with the pressure on head coach Ryan Day to end a three-game losing streak to the Wolverines, this feels like a must-win game for Ohio State.
The college football betting lines list Ohio State as an underdog against Big Ten newcomer Oregon while the Buckeyes look to beat Penn State for the eighth time in a row. Four of those games were decided by single digits so this could be a dangerous matchup for Ohio State with Penn State covering in four of the last five home games against the Buckeyes.
Regular Season Wins: Can the Buckeyes Top 10.5 Wins?
When looking at the 2024 Ohio State Buckeyes stats, there is little margin for error for Ohio State to go over 10½ wins during the regular season.
Ohio State can lose one game and still finish over that total. The Oregon, Penn State, and Michigan games look like the only ones where the Buckeyes could be in danger of losing.
In a perfect world. Ohio State will be 11-0 going into the Michigan game and that will relieve the stress from those who went with the Buckeyes to go over 10½ wins this season.
A quick look back at NCAAF scores will show that Ohio State has won 11 of the last 12 games against Penn State. The Buckeyes haven’t lost to Michigan State since 2016, are 12-2 over the last 14 meetings with Iowa, have won seven games in a row versus Nebraska, are on a 10-game winning streak against Northwestern and 21 of the last 24 wins against Indiana have come by double digits.
To Make Playoffs: Expect to See The Buckeyes In The Field
When the College Football Playoff field was limited to four teams, the annual matchup with Michigan often felt like an elimination game. However, with 12 teams now making the playoffs, there will be multiple Big Ten teams in the bracket.
When it comes to the CFP predictions, it is hard to imagine a scenario where Ohio State isn’t one of the 12 teams vying for the national title.
Side Bets
Although the starting quarterback has yet to be named, Will Howard is sixth at +1800 in the odds of winning the Heisman Trophy.
Running backs tend to be undervalued in the Heisman Trophy odds but Quinshon Judkins (+7000) and TreVeyon Henderson (+8000) are among the top contenders at the running back position.
If the electrifying Marvin Harrison Jr. didn’t win the Heisman, we don’t love Emeka Egbuka’s chances even if he is at +10000 right now.
