ACC Football Week 10 Odds: Are Irish Eyes Smiling on Clemson?

Tigers Look to Keep Playoff Hopes Alive at Notre Dame

The No. 5 Clemson Tigers don’t have much in the way of finishing with an undefeated record. The ACC football Week 10 odds suggest this week’s game at Notre Dame could be one of them. The Tigers are favored by 4.5 points, which is the tied for the lowest spread the Tigers have seen all season.

The Week 10 ACC schedule begins with a Friday night showdown between Duke and Boston College. The Blue Devils have five wins, so the game is a chance to become bowl eligible. Clemson and North Carolina are both undefeated in conference play and should meet in the ACC Championship game.

There are a number of five- and six-win teams in action this week looking to improve their bowl prospects. Louisville and North Carolina also have five wins and can become bowl eligible with victories.

Game of the Week

Game: Clemson Tigers vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Date & Time & Streaming:
Line: Clemson -4.5

Two teams with rich college football traditions meet in a huge game for both teams. A win by Clemson (8-0, 6-0) puts them that much closer to the playoffs. An upset by Notre Dame (5-3) will vault them into the polls and improve their bowl game standing.

The ACC football Week 10 odds suggest this is going to be a hard-fought battle. With the total at 47.5, the two defenses are expected to step-up and keep the opposing offenses below their season average. It’s the second-lowest total Clemson has had this year.

Clemson QB DJ Uiagalelei has made strides this year but Clemson is still a run-first team. The Tigers run the ball 40 times a game and pass 32 times. Clemson averages 4.7 yards per carry against teams which allow 4.4 yards per rush. The Irish hold teams to 3.9 yards per carry, so Clemson’s ability to run will be a key factor.

Notre Dame runs the ball even more than Clemson. The Irish average 42 rushes and 27 pass attempts per game. Clemson holds teams to 3.1 yards per carry, so the Irish may have to throw more than usual.

Other Games to Watch

Game: Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs North Carolina State Wolfpack
Date & Time & Streaming:
Line: Wake Forest -4.5

A battle of ranked teams, as the No. 20 Demon Deacons (6-2, 2-2) visit No. 21 N.C. State (6-2, 2-2) at Carter-Finley Stadium. The ACC football Week 10 odds show Wake Forest as a road favorite. It’s the first time the college football betting lines have had the Wolfpack as a home underdog all season.

The game is the proverbial good offense vs. good defense. The Deacons are averaging 38.9 points per game, which is 11.1 more points than their opponents allow on average. The Wolfpack are holding teams to 17.4 points, which is 8.6 fewer points than their foes have averaged.

Few teams have enjoyed as much success at home recently as N.C. State. Since the start of the 2020 season, the Wolfpack are 17-1 straight-up at home. North Carolina State is 12-6 ATS, which includes a 3-0 record against the number as a home underdog.

Game: Florida State Seminoles vs Miami Hurricanes
Date & Time & Streaming:
Line: Florida State -7.5

At the beginning of the season, the Miami Hurricanes (4-4, 2-2) had high expectations. Now they need to beat their in-state rival to remain above .500. With Clemson still on the schedule, a loss will leave the ‘Canes fighting for a minor bowl berth. But that’s not what they expect in South Florida, as Miami is a home underdog for just the second time since 2018.

Florida State (5-3, 3-3) is a good football team, but not a great one. They’ve been on the wrong end of the NCAAF scores three times this season. That was unheard of in the Bobby Bowden days, but that time has long since passed.

Both teams can throw the ball but the Seminoles are a bit better defending the pass. The ACC football Week 10 odds list the total at 52.5, so there should be a fair amount of scoring in the game.

Game: Syracuse Orange vs Pittsburgh Panthers:
Date & Time & Streaming:
Line: Pittsburgh -4

Things have gone from bad to worse for Syracuse (6-2, 3-1), who announced Monday DB Garrett Williams is done for the year. Williams led the ACC in pass breakups the past two seasons. Sitting at 6-0 just a few weeks ago, Syracuse brings a two-game losing streak into this one.

Despite a 1-3 conference record, the ACC football Week 10 odds have Pittsburgh (4-4, 1-3) favored over the ranked Orange. Pitt needs two more wins to become bowl eligible, making this one a bigger game for the Panthers.

Both teams are averaging more than 30 points a game and the injury to Williams won’t help the Orange, who need to regroup and get back to basics. The Panthers are 26-7 straight-up as a favorite since 2019.
