Colorado vs Air Force Game Information

Colorado Buffaloes

Not only did Colorado struggle to stop the run in the 2022 opener, but the Buffaloes also averaged just 3.9 yards per carrying and allowed six tackles for loss in a season-opening defeat to Texas Christian. That could play a role in Colorado vs Air Force odds being so much in favor of the Falcons.

Sophomores J.T. Shrout and Brendon Lewis split time at quarterback. They combined to complete 63% of their passes for 235 yards and a touchdown.

Four freshmen had catches in the opener, but senior Daniel Arias led the way with 66 yards on four receptions.

Sophomore safety Trevor Woods led the team with eight tackles.

The good news is that Colorado scored on two of its three trips to the red zone against TCU. The bad news is both scores were field goals.

Air Force Falcons

Air Force led all Football Bowl Subdivision teams in rushing yards per game during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. It is still early, but the Falcons are sitting atop the national rushing stats once again. The Falcons had their highest rushing total in the season opener since running for 595 yards against Tennessee State in 2011. It is no wonder that Colorado vs Air Force betting odds favor the Falcons.

Senior running back Brad Roberts had 114 yards on just eight carries against Northern Iowa while quarterback Haaziq Daniels added 107 yards on 12 carries. Three other players had more than 75 yards.

Daniels only attempted six passes, but he completed three of them for 109 yards.

Safety Trey Taylor led the defense with eight tackles to go with a pass breakup.

Colorado vs Air Force Head-to-Head

The two schools might both be based in Colorado but this is the first time the Buffaloes are playing at Air Force since 1974.

The teams met every year from 1958-1974 with the exception of 1969. Colorado won 12 of those 16 meetings and that includes the last four in a row. The most recent meeting came in 2019 when visiting Air Force won 30-23 in overtime as a three-point underdog.

Colorado has won 12 of the last 16 games against Mountain West teams. In each of those matchups, the Buffaloes have covered the games they won and failed to cover in the four losses. The most recent meeting was a 20-10 win over visiting San Diego State.

Air Force has won the last two games against Pac-12 teams with both of those contests happening in 2019. In addition to the overtime win against Colorado, the Falcons won at Washington State 31-21 as a 2.5-point favorite.

Colorado vs Air Force Betting Preview

The two head coaches – Troy Calhoun of Air Force and Karl Dorrell of Colorado coached together on the staff of the NFL’s Denver Broncos in 2003.

Air Force football odds and oddsmakers know that Air Force is best known for running the ball in the option offense, but one of the biggest plays the last time the Falcons played Colorado was an 81-yard touchdown pass.

Something to consider when it comes to the NCAA betting trends for this matchup; Colorado has lost its last five road games while the total has gone under in nine of Colorado’s last 10 games against a Mountain West team.

When looking at Colorado vs Air Force odds, the Falcons have covered in each of their last five games while each of their last five games went over the total.

Seeing a Mountain West team laying more than two touchdowns doesn’t happen every week. With limited possessions because of the run-heavy Air Force offense, it might be hard for the Falcons to cover in this one.
