Independents Week 12 Betting Odds: Liberty Favored Against an ACC Team for Second Time
Notre Dame Goes After Ninth Consecutive Against Boston College

No Single-Digit Lines for Week 12 Games Involving FBS Independents
The slate of games featuring Football Bowl Subdivision independents have the potential to be blowouts with all the college football lines at 10 points or higher when looking at the independents week 12 betting odds.
It will be worth watching to see if Boston College can make Notre Dame work for a win after three straight lopsided affairs.
In a trying week in the state of Virginia following the shooting deaths of three University of Virginia football players, Virginia Tech and Liberty will play one of two FBS games in Virginia on Saturday.
Here’s a look at the games.
UMass Minutemen vs Texas A&M Aggies
Date, time (TV):
Line: Texas A&M -33.5
It has been a tough year for a Texas A&M team that came into the season with such promise.
Since back-to-back wins against Arkansas and Miami, the Aggies are 0-6 with four of the losses by seven points or less.
There is no better way to end a losing streak than by playing a UMass team that has yet to beat a Football Bowl Subdivision team this season.
Only Iowa and New Mexico average fewer yards per game than UMass so this could be a day for the Aggies to dominate according to the independents week 12 betting odds. UMass has lost its last nine games against SEC teams and failed to cover in the last eight.
UConn Huskies vs Army Black Knights
Date, time (TV):
Moneyline:Â UConn +285, Army -360
Line: Army -10
It might be hard to come up with a bigger surprise team than UConn. The Huskies had lost 36 of the last 37 games against FBS foes coming into the season only to become bowl eligible with six wins including five against FBS foes.
The Huskies were listed by the NCAAF picks against the spread as the underdog in three of those wins.
UConn has made strides in stopping the run, going from allowing 193.8 yards to 152.4 over the last year. This will be quite a challenge with Army ranked second nationally with an average of 299.9 yards per game. Army ran for 397 yards the last time the Black Knights faced UConn.
Virginia Tech Hokies vs Liberty Flames
Date, time (TV):
Moneyline:Â Virginia Tech +285, Liberty -360
Line: Liberty -10
Liberty is coming off a loss to UConn when listed by the college football predictions as a 13.5-point favorite that knocked the Flames out of the national rankings. They are favored once again with a struggling Virginia Tech coming to town per the independents week 12 betting odds.
Hawaii transfer Dae Dae Hunter has made an immediate impact with 854 yards in his first season with Liberty.
Durrell Johnson has 18.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks for the Flames.
Boston College Eagles vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Date, time (TV):
Moneyline:Â Boston College +920, Notre Dame -1800
Line: Notre Dame -21
This series used to be pretty interesting series. Not only did Boston College win six games in a row against the Fighting Irish from 2001-08 and then three of the next five games were decided by four points or less.
It has been a different story recently. Notre Dame has won the last three games by an average of 25.3 points.
Notre Dame should have linebacker and second-leading tackler Jack Kiser in the lineup but safety Brandon Joseph is doubtful with an ankle injury.
Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec began his career in Notre Dame. He has missed the last two games so keep an eye on the NCAAF injury report to see if he will play in South Bend as a member of the visiting team for the first time on Saturday. Notre Dame should have linebacker and second-leading tackler Jack Kiser in the lineup but safety Brandon Joseph is doubtful with an ankle injury.
Notre Dame’s Isaiah Foskey has 5.5 tackles for loss in the last four games.
The Moneyline opened at -1600 for Notre Dame and is now at -1800.
Utah Tech Trailblazers vs Brigham Young Cougars
Date, time (TV):
Not much to say about this game as Utah Tech goes from playing Tarleton to Brigham Young.
It should be the home finale for Utah native and likely 2023 NFL first-round pick Jaren Hall as he has 2,622 passing yards with 24 touchdowns and five interceptions.
New Mexico State Aggies vs Missouri Tigers
Date, time (TV):
Moneyline:Â New Mexico State +1600, Missouri -6000
Line: Missouri -29
New Mexico State ranks 127th out of 131 teams in total offense, The Aggies have run the fewest plays in major college football. They have just eight TD passes and 10 interceptions.
New Mexico State has won four out of five games after an 0-5 start. However, winning on the road against a Missouri team that is fourth in the SEC in total defense might be asking a lot.
Chris Ojoh has seven tackles for loss over his last five games for New Mexico State.
The Aggies have been outscored 218-22 in the last three meetings with SEC teams.
