Mississippi vs Alabama Odds: Alabama’s Offensive Issues Cause Line Movement
The Alabama Crimson Tide Will Be Playing Its First Game Since 2015 When Ranked Outside the Top 10

Alabama Goes After Its Eighth Consecutive Victory Versus Rival Ole Miss
The last time that the Alabama football team played a game when ranked outside the top 10 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, it came following a 2015 loss to Ole Miss. With a loss to Texas followed by an underwhelming win over South Florida, the Crimson Tide fell to No. 13 in the AP poll with Ole Miss up next. The Mississippi vs Alabama odds lists the Crimson Tide as 7-point favorites.
The last time Alabama played when ranked outside of the top 10, the Crimson Tide began a run of 26 straight wins. Will history be repeating on Saturday?
Both teams have some injury concerns.
Ole Miss tight end Caden Prieskorn continues to work his way back from a toe surgery while receivers Qua Davis and Zakhari Franklin, tight end Hudson Wolfe and linebacker Tre Harris are all questionable according to the NCAAF injury reports. Harris is third on the Rebels with eight catches and 188 receiving yards.
Offensive lineman Tyler Booker, defensive lineman Jaheim Oatis receiver Emmanuel Henderson are out for Alabama while receiver Kendrick Law is questionable.
Alabama has won seven games in a row against Ole Miss. However, the Rebels have covered in three of the last four meetings.
When looking at the NCAAF schedule, Ole Miss faces LSU next week. That could be the last matchup with a ranked team until a Nov. 11 clash with two-time defending national champion Georgia. Alabama is not slated to meet a ranked team again until Oct. 21 when Tennessee comes to Tuscaloosa.
Alabama began the season ranked second only behind Georgia in the odds to win the national title. Now the Crimson Tide is tied for 12th in the championship odds at +4000 with Ole Miss coming in at +10000.
When looking at the NCAA football rankings, Alabama is 12th in the coaches poll and 13th in the Associated Press poll while Ole Miss is 15th in the AP poll and 16th in the coaches poll.
Alabama has fallen behind LSU in the odds to win the SEC title with Ole Miss fifth in the odds to win the SEC championship.

Last season, Quinshon Judkins headed into the fourth game of the season for Ole Miss with 289 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He has just 145 yards and is averaging just 3.3 yards per carry.
Judkins rushed for 135 yards with two touchdowns in the six-point loss to Alabama in 2022 and look for the talented sophomore to get some chances to shine on Saturday. Keep that in mind when looking at the Mississippi vs Alabama odds.
Ole Miss finished either first or second in the SEC in rushing yards in each of the last four seasons and currently ranks fifth with quarterback Jaxson Dart being the top rusher for the Rebels.
Five of the last seven games that Ole Miss has played against SEC teams finished over the total.
Struggling to Get Passing Grades
The last four starting quarterbacks at Alabama (Bryce Young, Mac Jones, Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts) are starting in the NFL. However, Alabama is currently last in the SEC in passing efficiency and completion percentage and only Mississippi State is averaging fewer passing yards per game than the Crimson Tide. That could factor into the Mississippi vs Alabama odds.
Jalen Milroe was replaced as the starter after he completed just 52% of his passes and threw two interceptions in a loss to Texas.
Those numbers look pretty good compared to Tyler Buchner going 5-of-14 for 34 yards in the 17-3 win over USF.
Alabama coach Nick Saban said that Milroe will be the starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide moving forward. There will be plenty of those watching how he performs against an Ole Miss defense that ranks third in the SEC in passing efficiency defense.
The total has gone over in four of Alabama’s last five games. The total is set at 56 for this matchup.
Last Meeting
Alabama, listed as the 11-point favorite on the road, fell behind 10-0 before Young tossed a pair of touchdown passes in the second quarter including one in the final 10 seconds.
A field goal in the fourth quarter gave the Crimson Tide the lead for the first time as Alabama won 30-24.
The game fell under the 65.5-point total and was the second straight game between the Rebels and Crimson Tide to go under the total.
What to Expect
The 7-point line is the smallest in the series since Alabama was favored by 4.5 points in 2014 in a game won by host Ole Miss 23-17.
The line opened with Alabama favored by 15.5 points and there has been significant movement because of the offensive struggles by the Crimson Tide.
Alabama was 4-2-1 a season ago as the home favorite.
Ole Miss is 1-13 in its last 14 games at Alabama. However, the Rebels have covered 12 times in the last 18 matchups with the Crimson Tide.
Alabama has covered in just one of its last six SEC games. The Crimson Tide have won 19 of the last 20 home games.
