NCAAF Regular Season Odds: An Early Look At ‘Title Contenders’ Win Totals

Big Ten Going to Be Interesting with Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State Leading the Way

Can the Georgia Bulldogs Make It Three National Titles in a Row?

Spring football is underway and the NFL Draft is coming up at the end of the month, so that is keeping college football in the news.

The interest will only increase now that UConn has been crowned as the men’s basketball national title.

Two-time defending national champion Georgia is priced at +275 to make it three titles in a row followed by Alabama (+550), Ohio State (+700), Michigan (+1100), USC (+1200) and Clemson (+1200) according to the NCAAF regular season odds.

USC quarterback Caleb Williams is the front-runner at +500 to win the Heisman Trophy for the second season in a row.

Let’s take a look at some of the NCAAF teams that could attract some action

The non-conference schedule is nothing to write home about with games against UT Martin, Ball State and UAB before the annual regular-season finale against Georgia Tech.

Road games against Auburn and Tennessee could be interesting for a Georgia team that is losing starting quarterback Stetson Bennett and several key players on defense. Tight end Brock Bowers is among the playmakers returning for the Bulldogs.

When looking at the NCAAF regular season odds, the Bulldogs are priced at +116 to go over 11.5 wins in the regular season and -142 to go under.

Wolverines logo Michigan Wolverines

There are no quarterback questions for Michigan with the return of J.J. McCarthy. Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards will be back to run behind a total offensive line.

The season begins with games against East Carolina, UNLV and Bowling Green. Ultimately the season will come down to November games against Penn State and Ohio State.

Even if the Wolverines lose those two games, that would be in line with the -142 odds to go under 10.5 wins compared to +116 to finish over that number according to the NCAAF regular season odds.

Buckeyes logo Ohio State Buckeyes

Marvin Harrison is back and he could be the best receiver in college football and perhaps one of the best players in the country.

Quarterback C.J. Stroud and offensive lineman Paris Johnson are among the key players headed to the NFL.

There is no lack of talent returning for Ohio State with a run at a college football playoff spot very likely.

A Week 4 game against Notre Dame could be challenging and winning at Michigan will be no easy task.

There’s not much difference when it comes to the price for the Buckeyes going over (-115) or under (-105) 10.5 wins.

Nittany Lions logo Penn State Nittany Lions

Is this the year when Penn State crashed the party atop the Big Ten and figures out a way to take down Michigan or Ohio State and moves up in the NCAAF team standings?

Running back Nick Singleton is one of the top non-quarterback candidates for the Heisman Trophy after posting a 1,000-yard season as a freshman. Replacing quarterback Sean Clifford will be a key for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State opens the season against West Virginia and the Big Ten opener will be at Illinois. There will also be a road game against Ohio State followed three weeks later with a home date with Michigan.

Penn State is favored to go over 9.5 wins with -138 odds to hit the 10-win mark and +112 to go under.

Volunteers logo Tennessee Volunteers

Hendon Hooker is gone and so is star receiver Jalin Hyatt but there is plenty of returning talent.

The season begins in Nashville against Virginia with the SEC opener coming in Gainesville against Florida. In October will come a road game against Alabama and a Nov. 18 showdown with Georgia.

The price is currently at +146 to go under 9.5 wins and -188 to finish over that number.

Others To Watch

Iowa is typically an elite defensive team that struggles to score points and that is one of the reasons why the Hawkeyes are priced at +134 to go over 8.5 wins and -164 to go under that total. The Hawkeyes won’t face either Michigan or Ohio State in the regular season.

After a slow start, Notre Dame began to figure things out under new head coach Marcus Freeman and even without an all-everything tight end, the Fighting Irish will be a tough foe.

The odds are -112 for Notre Dame to go over 8.5 wins and -108 to go under that mark. Home matchups with Ohio State and USC will be worth watching and there is an early November showdown with Clemson as well.

Year 2 in Brian Kelly’s tenure at Louisiana State has tremendous potential. However, right now the Tigers are being undervalued a bit as LSU comes in at -172 to go over 8.5 wins and +140 to end up with eight wins or less.

LSU has one of the biggest games when looking at the 2023 NCAAF schedule with a Week 1 matchup with Florida State in Orlando on Sept. 3.
