North Carolina State vs Clemson Odds Preview: It is right back to work for Clemson in its quest to return to the top of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
After needing two overtimes and a pass breakup in the end zone on fourth down to survive a major test from Wake Forest, the Tigers face another ranked opponent when No. 10 North Carolina State comes to town in a nationally televised game on Saturday night.
North Carolina State has the top scoring defense in the ACC while Clemson trails only North Carolina in scoring offense. The explosive offense by the Tigers is a reason why the North Carolina State vs Clemson betting odds favor the host Tigers. The game features a pair of talented quarterbacks as DJ Uiagaleleiof Clemson and North Carolina State’s Devin Leary have combined for 19 touchdown passes and just three interceptions.
Clemson (-160) remains the overwhelming choice to win the ACC title while North Carolina State (+650) is tied with Miami for the second best odds. The Tigers (+1400) are tied for fourth in the odds to win the national title while the Wolfpack comes in at +15000.

North Carolina State Wolfpack
North Carolina State’s offense figures to improve as the season moves forward. There are no such concerns on the other side of the ball.
The Wolfpack lead the ACC in scoring defense, allowing just 11.8 points in the first four games of the season. North Carolina State has allowed just six touchdowns so far this season. The key for the Wolfpack has been keeping opponents out of the red zone. Once they reach the red zone, they have scored all five times with four TDs and a field goal. Even with those impressive numbers, the North Carolina State vs Clemson betting odds favor the host Tigers.
The Wolfpack lead the ACC in scoring defense, allowing just 11.8 points in the first four games of the season.
North Carolina State is one of two ACC teams to allow fewer than 10 plays from scrimmage of 20 yards or more and the three plays surrendered of at least 30 yards ranks second only to Florida State so the Wolfpack has been able to make teams try to put together sustained drives.
Linebacker Drake Thomas and safety Tanner Ingle have combined for 44 tackles to lead a unit where the top six tacklers are either juniors or seniors.
Clemson Tigers
Ever since watching highly touted recruit DJ Uiagalelei throw for 439 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in a loss to Notre Dame as a freshman, Clemson fans have been waiting for Uiagalelei to emerge into a dominant quarterback for the Tigers.
It didn’t happen in 2021 as Uiagalelei did not throw for more than 220 yards in any of the conference games and he finished his first full season as the starting QB with more interceptions than touchdown passes. His presence is a reason why the North Carolina State vs Clemson betting odds favor the Tigers.
Uiagalelei showed what all the hype was about when he went off for 371 yards with a career-high five touchdown passes in a thrilling overtime win over Clemson. He has 10 touchdown passes and just one interception so far this season. Despite some departures at the receiver position, he has gone from completing 55.6% of his passes in 2021 to 64.3% this season. He has also topped 50 rushing yards in each of the last two games.

North Carolina State vs Clemson Head to Head
Clemson had won eight games in a row against the Wolfpack and 15 out of 16 before North Carolina State’s 27-21 win a season ago as a 10.5-point underdog at home. Quarterback Devin Leary had four touchdown passes while the defense limited Clemson to 214 yards.
Just four of the last 14 meetings finished as one-score games. Six of nine games in the series went under the total before the last two meetings both finished over the total.
When looking at previous NCAAF scores, Clemson has won the last eight games at home against North Carolina State with an average margin of victory of nearly 16 points.
North Carolina State vs Clemson Betting Preview
Nobody ever said that winning the ACC title was going to be easy. Clemson’s six-year reign as ACC champs ended a season ago as the Tigers fell a game short of winning the Atlantic Division title. After outlasting defending division champion Wake Forest last week, the Tigers play another undefeated team when the 10th-ranked Wolfpack face No. 5 Clemson.
North Carolina State had a much different matchup a week ago with an easy home win against UConn and players were able to have their workload cut a bit with the game decided early on. Will that play a role in this huge contest?
The total of 46 is an indication that even in the pass-happy ACC, there is room for defensive slugfests and this could very well be one of them even though the total has gone over in five of North Carolina State’s last seven games. Four of the last six Clemson games finished under the total.
North Carolina State has covered in just four of its last 12 games while Clemson is only 6-12 against the spread over the last 18 games.
The North Carolina State vs Clemson spread is in the 6.5-7 point range and that is a number that should attract plenty of attention in this showdown of top-10 ranked teams.
