North Carolina State’s offense figures to improve as the season moves forward. There are no such concerns on the other side of the ball.
The Wolfpack lead the ACC in scoring defense, allowing just 11.8 points in the first four games of the season. North Carolina State has allowed just six touchdowns so far this season. The key for the Wolfpack has been keeping opponents out of the red zone. Once they reach the red zone, they have scored all five times with four TDs and a field goal. It didn’t happen in 2021 as Uiagalelei did not throw for more than 220 yards in any of the conference games and he finished his first full season as the starting QB with more interceptions than touchdown passes. Uiagalelei showed what all the hype was about when he went off for 371 yards with a career-high five touchdown passes in a thrilling overtime win over Clemson. He has 10 touchdown passes and just one interception so far this season. Despite some departures at the receiver position, he has gone from completing 55.6% of his passes in 2021 to 64.3% this season. He has also topped 50 rushing yards in each of the last two games.

North Carolina State running back Jordan Houston is questionable while tight end Trent Pennix (arm) is not expected back until mid October.
