Odds to Win 2024 NCAA Football Title: Bulldogs Favored to Complete the 3-Peat

Can Alabama, Michigan or Ohio State Derail the Georgia Dynasty?

Can There Be Another TCU-Type Story During the 2023 College Football Season?

After an incredible pair of games in the national semifinals, Georgia made it clear that there would not be any such drama in Monday’s national title game.

Georgia had five touchdowns and a punt on its six possessions in the first half on the way to a 65-7 thumping of Texas Christian. Georgia entered the game as a double-digit favorite so the win was not a surprise. However, the margin of victory was anything people could see coming.

When looking at the odds to win the 2024 NCAA football championship, Georgia is the front-runner to make it three titles in a row.

Building a Dynasty

It had to be painful for Alabama coach Nick Saban to be among the many announcers on ESPN’s broadcasts for the national title game.

Georgia has clearly moved by Saban’s Alabama team with back-to-back national titles and now the odds to win the 2024 NCAA football championship list the Bulldogs at +300 to make it three titles in a row.

There will be some holes to fill beginning with quarterback Stetson Bennett. However, tight end Brock Bowers leads the list of returnees while seven of the top eight tacklers were either freshmen or sophomores, so this is going to be the team to beat.

Quarterback Brock Vandagriff, who has thrown three passes in two seasons at Georgia, is already showing up on the list of Heisman Trophy candidates.

As for Alabama, which is priced at +700 to win it all per the NCAAF odds, quarterback Bryce Young and linebacker Will Anderson could be the first two picks in the 2023 NFL Draft and it won’t be easy to replace either of them.

The Crimson Tide brought in the No. 1 recruiting class once again and there will be some extra motivation for the Crimson Tide after they failed to make it into either the SEC title game or the College Football Playoff field.

Big Ten’s Big Three

There are three NCAAF teams out of the Big Ten who could be in play in the national title race.

The odds to win the 2024 NCAA football championship have Ohio State (+700) tied for second with Alabama. Michigan (+800) is not far behind while Penn State might be a little undervalued at +2000.

Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud will leave big shoes to fill as he heads to the NFL. However, Ohio State has shown the ability to recruit talented quarterbacks. Whoever gets the job will be throwing to Marvin Harrison Jr., perhaps the top returning receiver in the country. A healthy TreVeyon Henderson will help the running game.

Ohio State needs to improve on defense if they want to do more than just compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff field.

The return of running back Blake Corum is an unexpected bonus for Michigan. He will team with quarterback J.J. McCarthy to lead the offense.

Offensive linemen LaDarius Henderson, Myles Hinton and Drake Nugent, edge rusher Josaiah Stewart, tight end AJ Barner and linebacker Ernest Hausmann are among the incoming transfers.

Once again, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh’s name is being linked with multiple NFL openings so keep an eye on the Michigan title odds if he does leave.

What’s Next for The Heisman Winner?

Alabama’s Young fell short in his bid to  join former Ohio State running back Archie Griffin as the only player to win the Heisman Trophy winner in back-to-back seasons. Now USC quarterback Caleb Williams has a chance to accomplish that feat.

‘Williams will miss star receiver Jordan Addison. However, there will be plenty of pass catchers for Williams to throw to.’

Scoring points was not the issue for the Trojans in Lincoln Riley’s first season at USC. The Trojans allowed 43, 47 and 46 points in their three losses and Tui Tuipulotu (13.5 sacks) is among the defensive players moving on.

The hope is that incoming transfers Mason Cobb, Jamil Muhammad, Kyon Barrs and Christian Roland-Wallace can help fortify things on the defense as the odds to win the NCAA football championship have the Trojans priced at +1200.

Tigers to Roar Again?

After a one-year absence, Clemson returned to the top of the ACC. The entire defensive front, that when healthy was the best in country, will mostly be headed to the NFL.

Cade Klubnik is the clear No. 1 at quarterback and Will Shipley is among the top returning running backs in the country. There are some who think Florida State is a better – or at least a more talented – team coming into the season so it will be interesting to see how things look at Clemson in 2023 and beyond.

Florida State brings back both quarterback Jordan Travis and edge rusher Jared Verse. Verse was being projected as a late first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft while Travis has the fifth-best odds to win the Heisman Trophy and the Seminoles have been active in the transfer portal. How will the Seminoles handle the expectations after flying under the radar coming into the 2022 season?

Big Dreams In Texas

There is plenty of talent at Texas even with star running back Bijan Robinson headed off to the NFL. Quinn Ewers had a solid first season at Texas, but more will be expected moving forward. The odds to win a 2024 NCAA football title are currently at +1800 for the Longhorns.

‘Texas had one of the best recruiting classes in the country. Of course, people were saying the same about Texas A&M a season ago. Quarterback Arch Manning leads the list of newcomers.’

The Longhorns are coming off a five-loss season, but expectations are high for the Longhorns.

Best of the Rest

Florida State and Penn State is joined at +2000 according to the college football betting lines with LSU and Tennessee

Tennessee needs to replace quarterback Hendon Hooker and receiver Jalin Hyatt. Joe Milton will step in at QB and there is still plenty of talent returning on both sides of the ball.

Keep an eye on the Pac-12 as well. Washington (+4000), Oregon (+2500) and two-time defending Pac-12 champion Utah (+5000) can’t be overlooked. No Pac-12 team will likely be under a larger microscope than Colorado as Sanders figures to have more starters who played elsewhere in 2022 than are coming back to Boulder.
