SEC Week 12 Betting Odds: Tennessee Tries to Avoid Stumbling At South Carolina

No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs Look to Keep Rolling Against Inconsistent Kentucky Wildcats

Plenty of Non-Conference Affairs Coming Up in Week 12 in the SEC

The best thing that can be said about the Week 12 schedule in the SEC is that Week 13 is coming up soon as the college football betting odds is projecting quite a few one-sided affairs.

Some of the conference’s best teams are stepping out of not just SEC play, but facing lower-division programs with Alabama welcoming Austin Peay to Tuscaloosa and East Tennessee playing at Mississippi State. The Texas A&M-UMass, UAB-Louisiana State and New Mexico State-Missouri games don’t exactly move the needle either.

Six of the eight FBS vs FBS matchups have double-digit lines.

There is still plenty on the line even though the LSU-Georgia matchup in the SEC championship game is already finalized.

Tennessee and LSU are hanging around in the College Football Playoffs by holding down the No. 5 and 6 spots.

The totals range from 47.5 for the UMass-Texas A&M game to 66 for Tennessee’s game at South Carolina.

Game of the Week

Georgia Bulldogs at Kentucky Wildcats

Date, time (TV):
Line: Georgia -21.5
Moneyline: Georgia -2200, Kentucky +1100

Since a near upset against Missouri, the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs haven’t been messing around as Georgia has won the last five games by an average of 29.8 points. The SEC Week 12 betting odds is calling for another big win by the Bulldogs.

About the only flaw on this 10-0 Georgia team might be a -7 mark in turnover margin in the last seven games.
Kentucky (6-4, 3-4) is coming off a stunning loss to Vanderbilt and since beating Mississippi State, things have headed into the wrong direction.

Running back Chris Rodriguez has gone over 100 yards in four of his last five games to lead the Wildcats.

Georgia has won 12 games in row against Kentucky. However, the Wildcats have covered in each of the last three meetings.

Other Games to Watch

Florida Gators at Vanderbilt Commodores

Date, time (TV):
Line: Florida -14
Moneyline: Florida -600, Vanderbilt +450

Vanderbilt is going into a game following a conference win for the first time since 2019. Quarterback Mike Wright threw for 184 yards and ran for 126 more in a 24-21 win over Kentucky.

Now the Commodores (4-6, 1-5) welcome Florida (6-4, 3-4) to town. The SEC Week 12 betting odds aren’t expecting another Vanderbilt win.

The Gators would be well advised not to be too focused on next week’s matchup with rival Florida State because Vanderbilt could easily have beaten Missouri and South Carolina heading into the contest with Kentucky that brought an end to the Commodores’ 26-game conference losing streak.

Florida has won eight games in a row against Vanderbilt and in last year’s meeting, the Gators cruised to a 42-0 win as a 39-point favorite.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Auburn Tigers

Date, time (TV):
Line: Auburn -5.5
Moneyline: Western Kentucky +185, Auburn -225

This is the non-conference that deserves a little more than a passing reference when it comes to the NCAAF picks.

In a season when Auburn fired its head coach, the Tigers can still become bowl eligible. First, they need to win on Saturday.

Auburn (4-6) is coming off a hard-earned 13-10 win over Texas A&M as the Tigers limited the Aggies to 215 yards as Texas A&M drove into the red zone just once.

Western Kentucky (5-5) is fourth in the country with an average of 336 passing yards per game.

The NCAA football betting odds line opened with Auburn as a 7.5-point favorite and has moved to 5.5.

Tennessee Volunteers at South Carolina Gamecocks

Date, time (TV):
Line: Tennessee -22
Moneyline: Tennessee -2000, South Carolina +1000

Tennessee is the highest ranked team in the College Football Playoffs not playing in a conference title game. With two of the teams ahead of them (Michigan and Ohio State) having a game next weekend, the Volunteers need to take care of business.

Heisman Trophy candidate Hendon Hooker is coming off a game with 355 passing yards and three touchdowns. He can move over 3,000 yards on the season on Saturday for Tennessee (9-1, 5-1).

South Carolina will need to account for junior receiver Jalin Hyatt as he leads the nation with 15 TD catches and is second with 1,116 receiving yards. He had just 21 yards on three catches in last year’s game against South Carolina.

South Carolina (6-4, 3-4) is fourth in the SEC in passing defense. However, having just 16 sacks in 10 games is a bit troubling because giving Hooker time to throw is not a recipe for success.

It has been a tough introduction to the SEC for South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler, a former starter at Oklahoma. In 2020, he had nine TD passes and just two interceptions as Oklahoma went 3-1 against ranked opponents so he does know how to elevate his play on the big stage.

Tennessee is 8-2 against the spread and that leads all SEC teams this season.

Ole Miss Rebels at Arkansas Razorbacks

Date, time (TV):
Line: Ole Miss -2.5
Moneyline: Ole Miss -135, Arkansas +115

Expect to see plenty of running plays in this one as Quinshon Jenkins of Ole Miss and Raheim Sanders of Arkansas are the only 1,000-yard rushers in the SEC.

Ole Miss (8-2, 4-2) and Arkansas (5-5, 2-4) rank first and second in the conference in rushing attempts per game.

The Razorbacks are seventh and the Rebels eighth in the SEC in rushing defense.

Arkansas quarterback K.J. Jefferson is expected to return after missing last week’s game due to a shoulder injury in football. Ole Miss running back Zach Evans left the most recent game with a concussion and it is uncertain is he will be cleared to play.

Seven of Arkansas’ 10 games went over the total, the best mark in the conference.
