Texas Tech vs North Carolina State Odds: Tech Looking to Further Their Stock

Red Raiders (2-0) On Road First Time in 2022, Following a 2OT Upset of the Houston Cougars

Before diving deeper into our NCAAF Texas Tech vs North Carolina State odds, let’s look at some relevant trends that might help us beat the number, Saturday.

Texas Tech is 19-9-1 ATS in the month of September after splitting their first two this season. NC State is on an 11-3 ATS streak at home after an easy cover last week against Charleston Southern. The Red Raiders are looking to improve on their 3-10 ATS record the week after allowing 20 points or less in their previous game.

Red Raiders Hit Road For Non-Conference Test

The key for Tech Head Coach, Joey McGuire, is how he finds the switch to take on the Pick after an emotional 2OT win last week against #25 Houston Cougars (33-30).

Scouring the aftermath of scores and odds college football last week had as much impact on bettors as this matchup. Tech closed as a -3.5 point favorite, failing cover by the hook.

It was the total that had many putting tape to ripped-up tickets. With the total sitting at 62.5, bettors still were in good shape as the game went into OT tied at 20. In the end, 23 overtime points sunk under players while overbets caused a scramble to the garbage can. Over the last four seasons, Tech is 17-15-2 ATS, good for a slight profit of 78 units.

Wolfpack Haven’t Lost to Red Raiders in 70 Years

Continuing our Texas Tech vs North Carolina State odds preview: These two have met five times in their history, with the Wolfpack winning four of those games. A 54-7 loss in Lubbock was the last time NC State dropped a game in this series.

They have faced the Pack twice as a ranked opponent dropping both games in 1922 (#25) and 2002 (#17). Two of the last three games have come down to the final play, including 1993 when NC State team scored as time expired.

The North Carolina spread shows as a 10 ½ point favorite with the money line on the game moving up some from -105 to a consensus -110. Expect that number to come down some with early wagers coming in on Texas Tech. Over the last three seasons, NC State is 14-10 ATS (+343 units). At home in that span, they’ve covered 9 of their last 12 while producing a profit of 559 units on a $100 wager.

Public Shouldn’t be Afraid of Double-Digit Favorite

So far in 2022, the way the line has moved has not worked in the favor of the public. In 201 games where the books have moved off of the send-out number, the public is just 88-113 (43.78%).

That has cost bettors over 2700 units on a $100 wager; however, a deeper dive into what happens if the number doesn’t move but the associated money line does, shows that public wagers have been a profitable 11-7 ATS (72%) +310 units.

It appears Heach Coach Dave Doeren has a terrific sophomore running back in Demie Sumo-Karngbaye, who is averaging over seven yards a rush through two games.

There has been some speculation this week that Doeren would be one of the names that could become the head coach of Nebraska after Scott Frost was fired. If that’s true and it’s an attractive option for the 10th-year head coach, you would think that he would want to not only win but win impressively if he wants to take advantage of what surely would be a big payday in Lincoln.

In conclusion of our Texas Tech vs North Carolina State odds preview; our official recommendation is to take the Pack -10.5 because it’s simply too much to ask of the Red Raiders team after last week’s emotional win at home.
