UCF 2023 Future Odds: National Championship, Conference, Regular Season Wins and Player Props

Knights Make Move to Big 12 Conference

The UCF Golden Knights closed out their time in the American Athletic Conference with a trip to the championship. But UCF fell to Tulane and then lost in the Military Bowl to Duke to finish 2022 with a 9-5 record. The Knights are one of four teams joining the Big 12 Conference this season. UCF is expected to be the best of the four, but it’s still a huge jump from the AAC to the Big 12. The 2023 UCF stats aren’t likely to look as impressive as they did in 2022. The difference in schedule strength will take a toll on Central Florida’s record.

Knights Ready to Ride With the Big Boys

The UCF Knights have owned one of the best records in college football over the last six years. But the Knights got little respect due to playing in the AAC. However, that’s all about to change this season as UCF has joined the Big 12 Conference. The talent level of UCF is close to last year’s team that went 7-7 against the college football spreads and 9-5 straight up. But college football games against Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Texas Tech aren’t going to be easy.

UCF returns John Rhys Plumlee at quarterback after throwing for 2,586 yards and 14 TDs. But Plumlee is at his best when he’s running the football. He led the Knights with 862 yards rushing and scored 11 TDs on the ground. RJ Harvey was the team’s third-leading rusher last year with 796 yards and he’s back, so UCF is set in the rushing department.

The Knights return two of their top three receivers in Kobe Hudson and Javon Baker. The NCAAF stats had the two combining for 12 TD receptions in 2022 and 1,437 receiving yards. UCF is in decent shape at the wideout position.

UCF returns six starters on defense, but the Knights did lose three starters from the secondary. The Knights are pretty solid up front, lacking a little depth at linebacker and in need of a reset in the backfield. UCF allowed 235.1 passing yards per game last season. If the Knights can’t fill the secondary spots with quality players, the 2023 UCF stats could be ugly against the pass.

National Championship Odds: UCF Has No Chance of Championship

The 2017 UCF Knights went undefeated and didn’t get an invite to the college football playoffs. UCF won’t go undefeated this season.

Conference Odds: Knights Can’t Compete With Top Teams

The Knights were +350 to win the AAC last season. They’re quite a bit higher now that they’re in the Big 12 Conference. UCF did attract a little bit of money, moving from +5000 to +4000 to win the Big 12. But it’s simply asking too much out of the Knights to compete with the top teams this season.

Regular Season Wins: Knights Should Manage at Least 7 Wins

Even though there are some tough games on the UCF schedule, there are also some the Knights should win without too much trouble. It’s hard to imagine UCF not winning at least seven games and heading to another bowl game.

The Knights should win their first three games out of the gate before running into Big 12 Conference foes. The Knights’ conference schedule is a little tougher in the beginning than at the end. That’s provided UCF isn’t too beat up after playing some physical teams.

The Knights will be a good football team in the upcoming year. But while that was enough to contend for the AAC title on a consistent basis, it’s not good enough in the Big 12 Conference. But the 2023 UCF stats will be good enough for the Knights to go over the win total of 6.5.
