UCLA Bruins Future Odds
The UCLA Bruins Are 8-4 ATS on The Road Since 2020

UCLA finished the 2023 season 9-4 after losing to Pittsburgh 37-35 in last year’s Sun Bowl. It was the second straight winning season under head coach Chip Kelly who is heading into his sixth season in Pasadena. Kelly ended a run of five straight losing seasons in his fourth season as head coach.
Against the spread, UCLA is 18-13 ATS over the last three seasons, 8-4 ATS on the road. They’ll need to improve on their 5-10 ATS mark against teams .500 or better if they want to take the next step towards being a major player in the Pac-12.

Bruins Schedule Gives Kelly’s Team A Chance At 10-Wins
The UCLA Bruins’ future odds have stayed the same as they were in 2022, but we think this is a team that will be taking a step forward in 2023 after coming off their best season under Head Coach Chip Kelly who does have some big shoes to fill after QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson (Browns) and RB Zach Charbonnet (Seahawks) were NFL draftees. 5-star freshman Dante Moore will be behind center while Carson Steele, a Ball State transfer, will likely get the majority of carries.
We don’t worry about the running back spot as much as we do at quarterback but believe us when we say that Moore is a special talent who will be a fun watch throughout his career. The Bruins’ defense will be almost intact for the 2023 season with eight starters returning, but that doesn’t mean automatic success considering that this group gave up 29 points a game last season.
We anticipate most of UCLA’s NCAAF scores this season will return results that indicate a high-octane affair, but the Bruins might get to 10 wins if their defense improves over last season. This is the final year before the West Coast-based team joins the Big 10, you can bet they have plenty of experience behind Moore if the freshman falters.
Ethan Garbers and Kent State transfer Collin Schlee will push the 5-star recruit in camp. Garbers is a junior quarterback who completed 70.3% of his passes in 2022 (26-37, 2 TD, 2 INT) but has yet to prove he can stretch the field. We continue our UCLA Bruins future odds preview with a look at their National Championship odds.
National Championship Odds: Bruins Far From National Championship
The odds that UCLA will win a title haven’t budged from last year’s numbers (-1000) and that’s about right considering we think the Bruins will have similar results as they did in 2022, except this season we think they’ll win their bowl game.
You can’t have the all-time leader in passing yards no longer under center and expect a jump into the championship picture. It will be interesting to see where the Pac-12 will be in three years, but that’s a more appropriate time frame to expect the Bruins to get back to where the program was in the early 80s under Terry Donahue. We continue our UCLA Bruins future odds preview with a look at the Bruins’ chances to win the Pac-12.
Conference Odds: Five Teams Have Better Pac-12 Odds
Last year, UCLA was +1000 to win the Pac-12. This year the oddsmakers have accessed that their chances are not as good in 2023 with preseason odds of +1600, a number that has come down to +1400. We think this is a 9-win team, but to think they’ll win the Pac-12 with USC, Oregon, and Washington all in the national; championship discussion, would be a waste of time. The schedule is favorable without Oregon or Washington on the schedule but wins at Utah and Oregon State are not guaranteed.
Regular Season Wins: Books Keep Win Projection At 8 1/2
It’s rare for NCAAF teams to have the same win total projection from year to year, but that’s exactly where the sportsbooks have UCLA after posting a season win total at 8.5. Most of that is due to an NCAAF schedule that is ranked 71st with a combined 2022 opponent record of 80-72, and that’s factoring in USC’s 11-3 2022 record.
UCLA has four opponents on their schedule that they lost to in their last meeting starting with San Diego State, who they lost 23-14 in 2019.
We can count on this somewhat revenge spot as a win on September 9th. The same goes for a return to Corvallis, Oregon to face the Beavers who handed UCLA a 48-31 loss in 2019. A more recent loss (34-28 in 2022) to Arizona puts the Bruins in a true revenge spot, a game they should avenge.
The next-to-last trip to Los Angeles is the x-factor to going over 8.5 wins, but remember UCLA trailed USC by just three (48-45) with 6:38 left in the game, opening the door for a Bruins upset. The Bruins will take advantage of a weaker schedule to get to the 9-win mark. That does it for our UCLA Bruins future odds preview, enjoy all your NCAA football games this season.
