San Jose St. vs UNLV Betting Trends

The San Jose State Spartans are 7-3-1 against the spread, including 4-0-1 away from home. The total has gone Over in 10 of San Jose State’s last 15 games, including seven this season.

The UNLV Rebels, meanwhile, have an FBS-best 10-1 record ATS. That includes a 4-1 mark at home. The total has gone Over in six of the Rebels’ last nine games. That’s important to remember when assessing the San Jose State vs UNLV odds.

UNLV Keeps Beating the Odds

The UNLV Rebels have been the most profitable team in college football for bettors this season, covering the spread in all but one of their 11 games. This is only the Rebels’ fourth time being favored by single digits and the first since Nov. 10 against Wyoming, a 34-14 victory.

At 9-2 (6-1 in Mountain West Conference), UNLV is bowl-eligible for the first time since 2013 and very reasonably could win 10 games for only the second time in program history. Following their 31-27 upset of Air Force, the Rebels are sitting atop the Mountain West and have overtaken Air Force as a +125 favorite to win the conference. Last week, the Rebels’ odds were as low as +1000.

At the very least, the Rebels have greatly exceeded expectations after being projected for 5.5 regular-NCAAF season wins. Barry Odom, defensive coordinator the past three seasons at Arkansas, should find himself in the mix for national coach of the year.

The Rebels’ turnaround has been spurred by their offense, which ranks 39th nationally in yards per game (425.5) and 19th in scoring (36 PPG). Junior Ricky White is sixth in the country with 1,197 receiving yards on 70 catches. Keep that in mind when making your 3

NCAA football predictions.

SJSU Still in Title Race

The San Jose State Spartans have won five in a row since a 1-5 start and can clinch a share of the Mountain West regular-season title with a victory Saturday. The Spartans are coming off a 24-13 victory over San Diego State, in which they were favored by 16 points.

At 6-5, including 5-2 in conference play, San Jose State has already assured itself of participating in a college football bowl. It’s the school’s first time being bowl-eligible in back-to-back seasons since 1986-87.

While the Spartans own the longest odds (+900) of the remaining Mountain West contenders, they can’t be overlooked. During their current win streak, they’ve beaten teams by an average of 23.8 points.

Chevan Cordeiro has been steady at quarterback, with a 61.2% completion rate, 17 touchdown passes and only four interceptions. The Spartans also have one of the country’s top running backs in Kairee Robinson (141 carries, 959 yards). Despite his diminutive 5-foot-7 frame, Robinson has scored 18 touchdowns, including at least one in every game this season. He ran for a season-high 200 yards on 19 carries against Fresno State on Nov. 11.

Notably, the Spartans have the nation’s 31st-ranked rushing offense (181.9 yards per game). Bettors should make note of that when analyzing the San Jose State vs UNLV odds.

Handicapping the UNLV Game

UNLV has been an NCAAF best bets for a majority of the season. Why should that stop now? All streaks end at some point, but in this case, bettors would be wise to ride the hot hand while it’s available. Look for UNLV to take care of business against San Jose State.
