Will LSU Offense Close Reg Season With Another Insane Performance?

The LSU Tigers aren’t playing for an SEC Championship or a College Football Playoff berth. The Tigers don’t have NCAAF championship odds with three losses. But they have the most powerful offense in the nation, with a few players looking to earn major awards at the end of the regular season.

The Tigers can still finish the season with ten wins. Jayden Daniels is the leading candidate for the Heisman Award, while his wide receiver, Malik Nabers, seems to be the front-runner for the Fred Biletnikoff Award.

There’s still a lot on the line for the Tigers in their home game against the Texas A&M Aggies.

While the LSU season hasn’t gone as planned, the Aggies have had it much worse. After four losses this year, Kimbo Fisher was fired with a buyout of over $75 million. The Aggies have also used three different quarterbacks this season and haven’t had consistent success with any of them.

Will LSU keep its foot on the gas for this rivalry matchup against the Aggies?

Oddsmakers have LSU sitting at -11.5 (-105). Meanwhile, the total is currently 66.5. The Aggies are a +360 underdog heading into the final regular season game of the year.

Texas A&M vs LSU Free Pick & Betting Trends

The Texas A&M Aggies have gone 5-5-1 against the spread this season. As 40-point favorites against Abilene Christian, the Aggies scored only 38 points in a 38-10 win. Texas A&M didn’t come close to covering because the Aggies didn’t even put enough points on the board to get to -40.

Meanwhile, the total has hit the Over in six of 11 NCAA football games this season for the Aggies. Texas A&M’s defense is still very talented.

On the other hand, LSU has finished 7-4 against the spread through 11 games. The Tigers haven’t been successful defensively, but the offense has carried them to a winning record against the spread. It’s also helped the Over hit ten of 11 times.

The Tigers and Aggies have exchanged wins and losses every year since 2018. Texas A&M won last season. Therefore, it’s likely LSU’s turn. Still, the Tigers have covered the spread against the Aggies in nine of the previous ten games.

Maybe Players Didn’t Like Jimbo Fisher

It never seemed like the players had anything against Jimbo Fisher. Many highly regarded athletes committed to Texas A&M year after year with Fisher at the helm.

But one of the Aggies receivers went against Fisher’s policy once he was fired. Fisher previously punished Moose Muhammad for attempting to wear sleeves on the field.

But last weekend, Muhammad wore sleeves. Against Abilene Christian, Muhammad earned 104 yards and a touchdown in the win. He had just 159 yards receiving before that game. It was his first 100-yard game since October 29, 2022.

It’s not a good look when a coach doesn’t have the players’ best interests and can’t work with their student-athletes to make them feel comfortable. It’s good to have policies as a program. But benching a NCAAF player for wearing arm sleeves is over the top.

It sounds like Jimbo Fisher was in over his head. That’s likely why things never worked out.

Jayden Daniels Fave for Heisman

LSU’s Jayden Daniels is currently the favorite to win the Heisman Award for the first time this season. Daniels has blown all competition away with 3,577 yards passing, 36 touchdowns, and a QBR of 94.9.

However, he’s also earned over 1,000 yards on the ground and scored ten more touchdowns rushing the ball.

The LSU offense had eight drives last week against a bowl-eligible Georgia State. Daniels and the LSU offense scored all eight times.

It will be much harder against a top 25 total defense in Texas A&M. But no college football team has stopped Daniels very well this season. A big performance at home in his final game at Tiger Stadium could seal it.

The Offense Will Be Ready!

The LSU Tigers won’t coach this game differently than others. But the coaching staff will have the Heisman Award in the back of their head when calling plays.

That’s just reality.

The Tigers have earned 46.82 points per game, averaging 335.45 yards in the air and another 218.82 yards on the ground.

Daniels leads the team in passing and rushing and has earned over 4,500 total yards with one more game to play.

Meanwhile, Texas A&M has been good in the secondary. They’re just missing a lot of tacking in the run game despite allowing only 102.36 yards per game on the ground.

With a new coach and another wasted season, it’s hard to imagine Texas A&M being more ready to go than LSU. The Aggies are an excellent defense, but the offense is likely onto its third quarterback.

Connor Weigman began the season. However, the former five-star quarterback was injured, giving Max Johnson an opportunity. However, Max Johnson hasn’t played in the last couple of games. Texas A&M turned to sophomore Jaylen Henderson.

Henderson has played against Mississippi State and Abilene Christian and has four passing touchdowns with one interception. While LSU’s defense isn’t great in the secondary, we’re not sold on Henderson’s ability as a passer against an SEC defense being next up on the college football schedule.
