The Rookie of the Year Has Better Odds For Success
Following a prolific rookie campaign that saw him win the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year (OROY), Garrett Wilson could be even better. The 2023-24 Garrett Wilson odds list him at 22-1 to win the Offensive Player of the Year (OPOY) award. This is awfully short considering he is just in his second year and is a receiver. But the arrival of Aaron Rodgers and Nathaniel Hackett could be a boon for this talented 22-year-old.

Can Wilson Be The Next Davante Adams?
The Jets hired Nathaniel Hackett to be the team’s new offensive coordinator. He’ll rekindle his relationship with Rodgers, which saw the quarterback win back-to-back MVPs while the offense scored over 27 points a game. Davante Adams, their lead receiver, averaged 107 receptions, over 1,300 receiving yards, and over 11 receiving touchdowns in three seasons with Hackett calling the plays.
Adams was already putting up stats even before Hackett’s arrival. In a similar sense, so has Wilson. If he’s already racking up over 1,100 receiving yards with the likes of Zach Wilson and Mike White throwing to him, imagine what he can do with Rodgers? It’s not crazy to think Wilson may set NFL records. He’ll need to if he’s to win the OPOY.
The 2023-24 Garrett Wilson odds also line him at 25-1 to finish the NFL season with the most receiving yards. This seems like a better bet over the OPOY award. Adams led the league in receiving yards per game (98.1) in 2020 and had the second-best mark in 2021. He also finished third in receiving yards in 2021 and 2022. Should Wilson quickly gain chemistry with Rodgers, he’s worth betting online.

The wideout was drafted by the Jets with the 10th overall pick in 2022 from Ohio State. He was one of six wide receivers taken in what was supposedly a wide receiver-rich class. He outshone his draftmates by winning the OROY award.

Wilson leads a new-look Jets wideout group that includes Rodgers’ buddies Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard. Kansas City’s Mecole Hardman also comes on board. Corey Davis returns from last season. Despite all these options for Rodgers, Wilson is the most talented and should command most of Rogers’ targets.
