2024 NFL Cheat Sheet: Detroit Lions Stats & Odds
Look for More Impressive Offensive Numbers When Projecting the 2024 Detroit Lions Team Stats

Are the Young Stars Ready to Lead the Detroit Lions to its First Super Bowl Appearance?
There were lofty expectations for the Detroit Lions in 2024. They fell one game short of their first Super Bowl but proved worthy of projections. There are new faces in the secondary and on the offensive line. Most top players return for the reigning NFC North Division champions.
When looking at the 2024 Detroit Lions stats , remember that Detroit was 8-2 at home last season, with the Lions being favored in all 10 home games.
The Lions led the NFL by covering in 70% of its games during the 2023 season. The Lions were 8-2 against the NFL spread on the road and 3-1 as the underdog.
Detroit led the NFL with 13 games, landing over the total in 2023. Eleven of the 16 games when the Lions were listed as the favorite went over the total.

Are the Lions Ready to Be Super?
Detroit had a stretch when the Lions played for the NFL title four times in a span of six seasons with the Lions winning three NFL championships. Unfortunately, the last that happened was in 1957.
After missing the playoffs in 20 of the previous 23 seasons, the Lions tied a franchise record with 12 wins in the regular season and added two more wins in the playoffs before falling to San Francisco 34-31 in the NFC Championship Game.
Quarterback Jared Goff, running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, and tight end Sam LaPorta give the Lions difference makers at multiple offensive positions as well as a pair of proven offensive tackles. Keep that in mind when looking at the 2024 Detroit Lions stats .

Super Bowl Odds: The Lions Could Be Ready to Roar
With all sorts of drama taking place in San Francisco due to the unhappy contract situation of star receiver Brandon Aiyuk, could the Lions emerge as the team to beat in the NFC in the Super Bowl odds by the end of the season?
The Lions nearly got to the franchise’s first Super Bowl in 2023, and many of the same players are back. They have the added motivation of coming so close to reaching the Super Bowl. The playoff experience should benefit the 2024 Detroit Lions stats, especially with a team with 50 players on its active roster 25 or younger.
Playing a first-place schedule will give the Lions plenty of challenging games to prepare for another playoff run.
Conference Odds: Lions Will Be in the Hunt
A quick look at the NFL team rankings reveals that Detroit was 27th in passing defense a season ago, and that is a problem being in a conference with Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers, Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles, and some other talented offenses.
The Lions addressed their needs by trading for Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis and using the top two picks in the 2024 NFL Draft on cornerbacks Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw.
Detroit is viewed as a top NFC contender. It will be interesting to see how the Lions handle being hunted instead of hunting.
The Lions have regular season games against the 49ers, Cowboys, Buccaneers, Rams, and two matchups with NFC North rival Green Bay. They will face many top NFC contenders before the playoffs begin.
Division Odds: Lions Eyeing Another Title
Detroit hasn’t won division titles in consecutive seasons since 1954 but is favored to do just that.
Green Bay proved last season they can manage without Aaron Rodgers. Jordan Love was highly productive in the season’s latter stages. Green Bay added former NFL rushing champion Josh Jacobs. The Chicago Bears are expected to be playoff contenders, with No. 1 pick Caleb Williams throwing to D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen, and fellow rookie Rome Odunze.
It won’t be easy but the Lions deserve their place as the favorite in the NFC North Division odds.
Denver doesn’t play its first division game until Week 7 when the Lions play at Minnesota, the team projected to finish last in the division. Four of the NFC North games come in the final six games of the season.
Regular Season Wins: Detroit Needs to Start Fast
The projected regular-season win total of 10.5 certainly appears to be within reach of the Lions with a roster full of rising stars.
The Lions figure to be favored in five of the first six games of the season. The degree of difficulty will increase after that with games against Houston, Jacksonville, Buffalo, and San Francisco as well as two meetings with both the Packers and the Bears so it would be in Detroit’s best interest to be ready to rumble when the season gets underway.
It could be worth rolling with the Lions to go over 10½ wins when looking at the NFL futures odds .
To Make Playoffs: Pencil In The Lions For Another Postseason Berth
With stars on offense and elite pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson, Detroit looks poised for the NFC playoff race.
Losing kicker Michael Badgley for the season isn’t ideal, but he only played four games last season, and they managed fine.
The NFC North is tough to navigate, but the Lions have the pieces to return to the playoffs.
Side Bets
- Aidan Hutchinson at +1200 in the NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds is sure to attract plenty of action. Hutchinson is priced at +1400 to lead the NFL in sacks. Terrion Arnold has the same odds to be the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, even though just three cornerbacks in the last 25 seasons won that award.
- There are -115 odds for quarterback Jared Goff to go over or under 26.5 touchdown passes and 4050.5 passing yards. Perhaps it is worth a what-the-heck bet for Goff at +800 to lead the NFL in passing yards.
- Sam LaPorta is at +110 to go over 7.5 receiving touchdowns. With many targets in the passing game, be cautious of taking Amon-Ra St. Brown at -105 to go over 8.5 receiving touchdowns. The -115 odds for him to go over 1275.5 yards might be a more tempting bet. LaPorta has the same odds to go over 825.5 yards.
- Jahmyr Gibbs has -130 odds to go over 7.5 rushing touchdowns.
- Dan Campbell has +2000 to be the NFL Coach of the Year.
- The Moneyline is at +300 for Detroit to be 4-1 after five games and +600 to be 5-0.
