Bet on Super Bowl Commercials: Highlighting What Makes America Great

As Companies Bet on Their Ads, Folks Can Also Bet on Their Ads

Super Bowl Commercials are Big Money

The Super Bowl is the most grandiose event in North America. It’s best exemplified by the ludicrous types of commercials we get. A 30-second ad cost an estimated $7 million last year in 2022, which is up from $6.5 million in 2021 and $5.6 million in 2020 and 2019.

One thing is for sure; they only get more expensive as time goes on, which is why there is extensive research both from the companies making them and the folks who bet on Super Bowl commercials.

The Pillars of American Superiority: Junk Food, Alcohol, and… Avocados?

Nothing screams louder than “I am American programming!” by putting on a game of football with celebrity-laden advertisements of Doritos, M&M’s, and Budweiser. Throw in some commercials about online shopping, streaming, and of course, mayonnaise, and we have a Super Bowl party.

Folks can bet on these Super Bowl commercials via the online sportsbook. Presently, it’s an either/or type of bet on which of these ads will air on television first.

Judging by some heavy line movement, there is already leaked information on what is likely to go first. M&M’s (-140) is now being given a 53.8 percent chance to air before Doritos (Ev) and a 62.5 percent chance (-200) it does before Pepsi Zero Sugar (+150).

M&M’s and the Chips of Choice

News came out that M&M’s purchased a 30-second spot for the second quarter of the game. Going by the direction of the betting odds, the public then expects Doritos and Pepsi Zero Sugar to air later in the game. The former should be broadcast before Pringles, however.

The odds have Doritos at -150 (55.7 percent probability) over Pringles (+110).

Pringles will return to the Super Bowl for the sixth straight year. Meghan Trainor stars as the chip companies first celebrity endorser in quite a while. They’ll give a nod to last year’s “Stuck” campaign. And last but not least, Popcorners will also have its own commercial.

Breaking Bad fans may find their campaign to be one of the best Super Bowl commercials as Aaron Paul stars. With less details on when it airs, there has been little-to-no movement on its betting lines versus Pringles (-115 each way).

Pour It All on These Drinks

If several of the brands mentioned above have an edge, it’s another thing with some of the alcohol. Currently, Budweiser and Heineken are lined evenly (-115 each way) to appear before the other. Budweiser returns to the Super Bowl and hip-hop artist and producer Metro Boomin will be the beer brand’s celebrity of choice.

Heineken, on the other hand, will team up with Marvel to run a campaign that also promoted Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The public can bet on more Super Bowl commercials featuring alcoholic beverages. Remy Martin, Bud Light, Michelob Ultra, Crown Royal, Busch Light, and Molson Coors are all expected to air commercials. Molson Coors will feature either their Coors Light or Miller Light beers in partnership with DraftKings.

But it’s still undecided hence why the NFL Super Bowl odds are still off the board (OTB).

“Figuring out which brand or brands is no simple task,”
“It’s not just that Molson Coors hasn’t been in the big game in 30 years. Neither have Miller Lite or Coors Light. And when you look at the momentum we have with our premium lights right now, there’s a really good argument for either one to be featured in the Super Bowl.” Said Molson Coors Chief Marketing Officer Michelle St. Jacques in a statement.

Some Mighty Expensive Avocados From Mexico

But one brand that has all of its seeds out is Avocados From Mexico. It only makes sense that we associate avocados – a.k.a. the chief ingredient of guacamole – with the Super Bowl.

Their new ad stars comedic star Anna Faris and is heavily (-900) expected to air before Hellman’s Mayonnaise at least.

The line indicates an 85 percent chance Avocados From Mexico will be broadcast before the Mayonnaise brand. Hellmann’s new commercial is expected to show in the third quarter of the game.

Thus, those who bet on Super Bowl commercials steamed the betting lines for Avocados.
